05:44<Newbumz>I have looked for a while* now
05:44<devil>Newbumz: flash for 64-bit got puilled by adobe some time ago for its 'good security', they put it back a while ago
05:44<devil>Newbumz: it should be in apt

05:46<Newbumz>Thank you I will try that. I was on the web and the only available was 32 bit. The old 64 bit links I was used to now only link to the same spot but with 64 taken out of the list.

07:08<otzi>I like bacula, but perhaps it's an overkill
07:08<OsirisX>amitz - uses standard archiving and compression techniques so can be recovered with basic tools
07:09<OsirisX>amitz - encryption if you need it

07:14<amitz>I misunderstood the concept of nice.
07:14<OsirisX>I had a nasty experience with Acronis true image - I lost my laptop HD and backup drive at same time - unfortunately the backup was in 1 large 60GB proprietary encrypted file. I had the drive professionally recovered but it only a few bits of corruption in the 60GB file rendered the whole thing useless

12:41<MyKEcs>Hi could you help me with dpkg? I type command apt-get upgrade and mysql 5.1 from dotdeb started upgrading but now says that is new configuration file here if can rewrite or stay old my.cnf but now i dont want to upgrade mysql i want to stay at 5.0, so i canceled this operation and when i run apt-get update, upgrade... it say: E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
12:42<MyKEcs>Could you help me how to cancel this?

12:55<MyKEcs>yes but is say: Configuring package mysql-common (5.1.54-0.dotdeb.0) and i thought that upgrade is to 5.0.x and its to 5.1.x and i dont want upgrade to 5.1 for compatibility reasons...
12:55<MyKEcs>can i cancel this or i must upgrade for newer version?
12:55<otzi>oh, I thought you said you wanted to keep 5.0
12:56<MyKEcs>yes i want keep 5.0 but it say that upgrading to 5.1
12:56<otzi>seems like mysql-common was the problem
12:56<Gathond>MyKEcs: from your description it has already upgraded it
12:56<otzi>dpkg-query -s mysql-common probably says 5.1 right?
12:56<Gathond>you just ctrl-C'ed it before it did the configuration of what it installed
12:57<Gathond>so now you are left with the new program but the old data/config
12:57<MyKEcs>yes i did this ctrl+c and if i want update source lists, upgrade other packages it say error dpkg....
12:57<Gathond>you MAY be able to forcefully install the old packages with dpkg directly
12:57<Gathond>MyKEcs: yes, because now the system is horribly inconsistent
12:57<Gathond>ctrl-C leaves the upgrade partial
12:58<Gathond>you should not do that

12:59<Gathond>the dpkg --configure -a command will just complete the upgrade though
12:59<Gathond>not sure you can downgrade mysql again withouth having to restore the database from backup
12:59<MyKEcs>i know and is there way how to cancel this upgrade and keep 5.0?
12:59<Gathond>then again, depending on where you interrupted it the database files itself may already be upgraded
13:00<otzi>you're too late to cancel it
13:00<Gathond>I concur
13:00<Gathond>it is already at least partially performed, so it should be allowed to complete
13:01<MyKEcs>because when i type /etc/init.d/mysql status it say: Server version 5.0.51a-24+lenny4 so it is not upgraded
13:01<MyKEcs>or im wrong?
13:01<otzi>mysql-common is upgraded
13:01<otzi>but not mysql-server
13:01<otzi>well, mysql-common is half upgraded :P
13:01<Gathond>right, then it may be recoverable
13:01<otzi>I don't know what's in mysql-common
13:01<Gathond>as mysql-commen does not actually do anything I believe
13:02<Gathond>otzi: me neither, but probably not the stuff that upgrades the actual on disk database files
13:02<otzi>perhaps you can finish mysql-common upgrade and then downgrade it without much effect in other mysql packages
13:03<otzi>yeah, mysql-common seems to be mostly configuration related

13:03<MyKEcs>okay, im worried about upgrading, downgrading packages because this is problematic for me, so i plan to reinstall server, i want all clean...

13:10<MyKEcs>yes only common

22:19<dieselnut>I'm hoping for some guidance. I am/was running Debian unstable, upgrade via dist-upgrade from 5.0.7 stable. Tonight, I decided to try to convert to using ext4. I followed the directions but upon reboot, I get mount errors. After doing some reading, I _think_ this is due to the fact that my initrd does not have the ext4 support

23:17<dieselnut>I ask since there is this comment in the ext4 conversion wiki: "f you are using a stock 2.6.30 kernel from debian repositories, be careful when you are converting you root filesystem. It is possible you need to update initrd (update_initramfs -u) to add ext4 driver. If the driver is not in initrd image, your system will not boot after the conversion. "
