02:36<lucid9>jm_: so i mount the iso, then copy everything but the folder with other ISOs, than use mkisofs to create the new smaller iso?
02:36<jm_>lucid9: in essence yes, but you will also need to take care of boot stuff if you want it bootable
02:37<lucid9>jm_:yes i do want to make it bootable, so what should i be looking for?
02:38-!-e-ndy [] has joined #debian
02:39<emlen>jm_: found /pool/main/d/debootstrap/debootstrap-udeb_1.0.26+squeeze1_all.udeb, does it worked on live cd without any manipulations with PATH var, or others?
02:39<lucid9>the directory i want to delete is r-x for all users
02:40-!-mekt [~mekt@] has left #debian []
02:40<lucid9>my bad, the loop mounted iso is a ro filesystem
02:40<lucid9>read only
02:40<jm_>emlen: this shouldn't matter for the live usage - live CD-s typically have a large file with files already installed
02:40<jm_>lucid9: iso9660 fs is read-only anyway

02:42<jm_>yeah so I suppose you can use -b isolinux/isolinux.bin -c isolinux/ or somesuch
02:43<emlen>jm_:i'll try it and be back, could i?:)
02:43<jm_>checking if -isohybrid-mbr should be used is also worth it

10:22<kop>Marijn: FWIW I find those control panels to be worse than useless. First you need to figure out how the underlying software works. Normally you'd be done then, but with a control panel you _then_ need to figure out the control panel. And I've never seen the facility for leaving yourself documentation so you can write down why you made some change so that you can figure things out a year later. With a text based config that's painless.
10:22<Marijn>That's why we've selected openpanel. It's transparent enough for us to mind our on business in the normal configuration files.
10:23<kop>Marijn: I suppose they're ok if you just want to poke things with a stick until they work, but that's a dangerous approach to being a sysadmin.
10:23<blast007>Marijn: the open panel site says it supports squeeze

You have to realise that we know nothing about miracl and how it might be related to /usr/bin/linux -- Where is that file from? 13:13<retrospectacus>evileft: we need more information about what you are trying to do. Debian does not include any /usr/bin/linux - it does have linux32 and linux64 directories there, but ofc you cannot run them with bash

17:39<retrospectacus>the best CD is the netinstaller
17:39<dpkg>netinst is probably a small CD image with which you can install Debian. If, during the installation process you have a working Internet connection, you can install more packages straight away, otherwise, you will have a base install and more packages later. See See also <various cd1>, <check iso image>, <dialup install>, <usb install>, <installer>.

23:01<dont_hate_the_playa>hey- what is a 'load average'?
23:02-!-inix [] has joined #debian
23:02<MrFrood>!load average
23:02<dpkg>extra, extra, read all about it, load average is the number of processes that are either in a "runnable" (waiting for CPU) or uninterruptable state, averaged over time. It's like the number of people in line at the checkout. It's possible to have a high load average with low CPU utilization if systems are waiting for other resources, e.g. I/O, network socket responses.
