00:43<gangstarap>hi- when i type 'ls', it shows a bin file in the working dir, but when i try to run the file it says "No such file or directory". What's up with that?
00:44<sney>current working directory is not normally part of your path
00:44<sney>to run the file you can do ./file
00:44<gangstarap>yah- i do that
00:44<gangstarap>can i paste the output? it's weird

00:46<sney>what does running 'file' on that installer give you?

01:05<gangstarap>no- i dl'ed it twice, and the installer works on another linux box
01:08<scientes>when is debian installer going to allow compress=zlib for btrfs?
01:08<scientes>and is there anyway i can workaround this limitation?
01:09<sney>probably when btrfs is a little more ready for production
01:09<sney>doesn't it still not have a working fsck?
01:09<jm_>you can create a fs manually anyway
01:09<scientes>it does, however it is not released
01:09<jm_>it indeed still doesn't have fsck
01:10<jm_>a general public usable one that is
01:10-!-bfly_ [] has joined #debian
01:10<scientes>jm_, yes, but how can i get the installer to mount it with the option compress=zlib?
01:10<jm_>scientes: you can mount it manually
01:10<scientes>cause compression is per-file
01:10<scientes>hmm, anyway i can pause the installer and then do that?
01:11<scientes>can i already started
01:11<sney>you would probably have to put together a custom installer
01:12<scientes>oh geeze
01:12<scientes>its easier to install and then "defragment" (a sd card)
01:12<scientes>to compress everything
01:12<jm_>just use its advanced mode
01:12<scientes>i was using the advanced mode
01:12<scientes>and it allows options on partitions
01:13<scientes>but not compress=zlib
01:13<jm_>it has steps you can skip and do it manually
01:13<scientes>just the typical ext4 ones, like noatime
01:13<scientes>ahh yes
01:13<scientes>i was not in that expert mode, well anyways, i already started, screw it
01:13<scientes>but good to know i could do it

03:01<jm_>it would probably be better to ask in a virtualbox related channel

03:02<jm_>but since it's a script it should be easy to check why it says that

03:06<Deltatash>is there any specific place? like windows uses C:\Program Files?
03:06<jm_>this is more about vbox additions, isn't it?
03:06<Sicelo>do `dpkg -L vbox`
03:06<jm_>did you install those?
03:07<Deltatash>yeah i think i did
03:07<jm_>try doing it manually again - i.e. mount the iso, run /path/to/cd/
03:08<Deltatash>thats from your command Sicelo but I installed the newer version the .deb file form the vbox website so I would have USB support
03:09<jm_>we don't support that one here, but you should have no problem on freenode channel

06:10<sergiutux>i think it's not worth it

06:11<babilen>sergiutux: All that being said: If you want to use nouveau again you have to remove nvidia specific configuration in your xorg.conf (or better remove xorg.conf completely and make sure that you don't have anything in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ for nvidia as well) -- If you blacklisted nouveau, you might have to remove that blacklist and run "update-initramfs -u" in order to update the initramfs too

15:41<dpkg>[contrib] Debian packages that contain <DFSG>-compliant software, but have dependencies not in main (possibly packaged for Debian in non-free). To get contrib packages, add lines like "deb [squeeze|wheezy|sid] main contrib" to your /etc/apt/sources.list, then aptitude update. Also ask me about <non-free>.
15:41<retrospectacus>non-free is about software freedom. Countries have nothing to say about it. For software with patent issues, see <dmm>
