00:08<applematt>i know this is the debian channel, but i was curious if any body has experienced seg faulting on them on debian?
00:09<ChrisKnadle>from the flashplayer-nonfree package?
00:09<ChrisKnadle>no... not yet, at least AFAIK
00:09<applematt>no, i was using the adobe one. :-\ maybe that's my problem?
00:10-!-mode/#debian [+l 461] by debhelper
00:12<ChrisKnadle>Could be. flashplayer-nonfree only shows up in the package list after adding the "non-free" section to the sources.list file
00:12<applematt>i'll give that a whirl, then. thx for your help! :)
00:13<ChrisKnadle>And there's another oddity to know about when using the package: you need to occasionally reinstall it to get the new version
00:13<ChrisKnadle>because it's a downloader where the package version doesn't change, but the version that it installs DOES.
00:14<applematt>ah .. good to note. thx!
00:14<ChrisKnadle>I got the name wrong -- it's flashplugin-nonfree
00:14<ChrisKnadle>the gnash plugin is the free alternative, if you're looking for one.
00:15<ChrisKnadle>which is good to know, because Adobe has said that they're dropping support for Linux for Flash and are doing fixes only at this point. :-(
00:15<applematt>that's sad :(
00:16<ChrisKnadle>That's "life in the Linux lane". ;-)
00:17<applematt>interesting ... the only package available is flashplugin-nonfree-extrasound
00:17<applematt>i added non-free to my sources.list
00:17<ChrisKnadle>maybe it's in contrib? add contrib also if you haven't.
00:18*applematt updates sources.list

03:35<jpb147>Actually it is a GRUB question... I just installed 6.0.4 LXDE from CD. System boots OK but GRUB offers only Linux as an option. I wanted to dual-boot WinXP. I did the disk partition manually, and I'm pretty sure I do still have a WinXP partition. I thought GRUB would automatically give me a line to boot WinXP, but no.

21:53<Casoe84dk>biologolunar I have just formatted the hdd because of the install disk to see if its posible
21:54<biologolunar>I have no idea how to solve that problem, just squeeze brings grub2 in the installer
21:55<biologolunar>but, but you and I know that lenny, brings both grub2, and grub-legacy
21:55<Casoe84dk>does it? I have allways only used grub-legacy

22:02<biologolunar>I must say I'm not sure that the installation disk in lenny still has grub-legacy, excuse my vagueness, yet I observe that the package does not exist in old stable see:§ion=all
22:02<Casoe84dk>biologolunar no but the server has to run within 30 hours because it's the gateway for all of my units including my work computer here at home

22:04<biologolunar>Casoe84dk: Now the question is to know if the installation disk to squeeze in expert mode provides an option grub-legacy
