12:08<irime>Buenos tardes! I don't see any automated way to do this. I am a user but not an expert. One option: enter the encrypted filesystem, copy your data to another device, and reinstall without LVM. Sorry I could not find a more convenient option.
12:29<rgms>Zaba, screen -dr -p 0 -X stop is just giving me "unknown command". I think it's just inserting commands for byobu instead of the windows

12:29<johnv474>vipintruder, Another option, but for a Ubuntu installation, is to have the passphrase entered automatically. I found that here:
12:30<Zaba>rgms, yes
12:30<johnv474>or from an Archlinux page:
12:30<Zaba>rgms, 'stuff' was the screen/byobu command
12:30<Zaba>rgms, which inserts input into the running program
12:30<Zaba>rgms, so you want -X stuff $'\nstop\n', for example

15:18<Architekton>thanks Alex
15:18<flipside>anybody have any clues how to fix this?
15:19<__Alex_>flipside: Try: "sudo kill -9 $(fuser -m /dev/sdXZ)"
15:20<flipside>__Alex_ yeah I have a feeling fuser is whats causing this but there should be a more elegant way to do this?
15:20<flipside>__Alex_ is this a know issue?
15:20<__Alex_>What issue?
15:21<__Alex_>There is no issue, it's just that a program uses the disc, and it needs to be killed
15:21<flipside>having problems with umount when it comes to USB devices.
15:22<__Alex_>"sudo kill -9 $(fuser -m /dev/sdXZ)" will do the trick. There is no "Elegant way" of killing an app that accesses a disc unless you know what it is.
15:23<flipside>__Alex_ what is the best way to hunt down the program that is using the device. Could be xfce or lightdm causing this...idk.
15:23<__Alex_>fuser -m /dev/sdXZ gives you the PID of the certain program
15:23<__Alex_>and sudo kill -9 kills it
15:23<flipside>__Alex_ going to try that asap.

20:34<V13>Hi. Do you know of a way to encrypt a file using an x509 certificate? (Of course the file encryption will be with a symmetric key). I'm looking for something that will produce a standard output (e.g. like smime). 22:26<Pinetree707>Problem: Debian install only allocated 330mb for my root directory (which is now so full that I'm getting fails when trying to install tools via synaptic because initramfs and other init files can't be updated). Solution: use PartitionManager to decrease the size of the user partiion (230gb) and then increase the size of the '/' partition. Fubar: Can't operate on the hdd device while it is mounted. what is the best way to solve this ? machine is
22:26<Pinetree707>a netbook, so no CD drive to boot from, install was done by net.
