09:53<dpkg>Ubuntu is based on Debian, but it is not Debian. Only Debian is supported on #debian. Use #ubuntu ( instead. Even if the channel happens to be less helpful, support for distributions other than Debian is offtopic on #debian. See also <based on debian> and <ubuntuirc>.
09:53<ayaka>but you can use clonezilla to do

09:57<bluenemo>i've been an admin for several years now ayaka, however i appriciate your input. i know ( :( ) about the differences of ubuntu and debian. however i also know that in #ubuntu one can only ask end user gnome bull, thats why i still prefer my good old debian channel :)

10:00<tom2bor>so if I want to execute my script after reboot i should link to the rc2? Or maybe also rc3, rc4, rc5?
10:00<MTecknology>Philambdo: When I was reading it earlier, it seemed that the repos wasn't for package syncs but instead was for knowing what packages were available to specific systems so it knew which ones needed to be updated. Now that I'm corrected on that, I can't figure out how to make spacewalk know that systems need to be updated.
10:01<bluenemo>tom2bor, depends on when you want it executed. list yourself through the init dirs and look for an appropriate place.
10:01<bluenemo>btw you can use (if i'm not to tired now :) this here for it: update-rc.d - install and remove System-V style init script links
10:02<bluenemo>and as your hanging around in init anyway, take a look at the 'service' command. its to replace plain /etc/init.d/foobar restart or so

10:33<bluenemo>SynrG, they are a bunch of rails devel's, they have no idea about linux ;) but we're not hardcore ubuntu, basicly we got it because the sound is working out of the box m) we dont have gnome (but xmonad) and start from a minimal install... i've been using ubuntu now for about half a year and its actually acceptable. from my point of few its actually quite similar to debian. however, 90% of my time is still spend on debian servers and if that
10:33<bluenemo> would be otherwise i wouldnt work here, yes.

14:03<babilen>ox: Ok. These errors are due to legacy init scripts being present in /etc/init.d/ -- The most common reason for that is that you remove-but-not-purged a package. This can be solved by purging all removed-but-not-purged packages with "aptitude purge ~c"
14:03<themill>ox: the packages that are "removed but not purged" you can just purge to get rid of and solve the problem. The other ones need some more thought -- would you have edited them yourself?
