00:14<John>or a long time kernel devs have been ignoring users.
00:14<John>I believe they simply don't care. If for a year there

00:24<pparadis>Sidicas|2: from what i'm reading, their BIOS update utility acutally writes bootable media (USB drive) that you then boot from to perform the BIOS upgrade. thus, you should probably be okay to run that utility with wine, if it will run.

02:00<newb12466343>bones_was_here: how to add this rule? can't find how to save the rule and restart iptables
02:01-!-jardiamj [] has joined #debian
02:01<bones_was_here>you add it to your iptables script, or iptables save file if you do it that way
02:01<bones_was_here>if you're not configuring iptables directly you need to ask better questions
02:02<bones_was_here>iptables is a tool for configuring netfilter (a kernel component), as such it can't be restarted, but it is common to use a script that flushes all the rules and sets new ones
02:05<newb12466343>so in debian i need just to save the rules in file?

03:42<reklipz>Hi folks. I have a machine that provides various services, e.g., web, git/scm, that also is capable as a media player. I currently use GNOME to sort, browse, and play my media. I recently switched from an always up wired connection (managed via NetworkManager) to a wireless connection. How can I still use NetworkManager and have the WiFi interface come up without a GNOME session?

05:13<afuentes>help you*
05:15<reklipz>afuentes: Okay. I'm not sure how necessary that is at this point; Ubuntu marked their bug as won't-fix, discovered in an obsoleted series of theirs. Debian has an open bug report I replied to, I'll stick with that. Any changes made will likely be upstream given how prevalent the bug is via my Google search, so Ubuntu will get the fix, or at least have the chance.

06:31<ayaka>themill, it will hash in sha512?
06:32<Apollo>mkpasswd -m sha-512 -s

14:20<dualboot>bfly: Some sort of data corrpution, no. But the more disks you have, the more likely it is that at least one of them fails. And I don't expect any system to work properly once part of the swap space is not working (disk dead or unreadable sectors).

20:56<dragondon>should this be done as root (which is what I was planning on doing since it's a system mod)
20:57*pparadis would guess /etc/asound.conf would be a better place, but then again i do debian on servers all day long, not desktops :)

23:48<Sidicas>sney_: I'm thinking maybe it is a problem with openarena 0.8.8 or MESA 8.0, but I really don't know.
