00:00<Celelibi>Yes, I think you can do that and it will work. However, mounting the drive to the old location would be better I think.
00:00<Celelibi>Just like I think it would have been better to dump the database using mysqldump.
00:01<Celelibi>And I also think it's great time to go to bed for me.
00:02<Celelibi>And I really hope you have backups everywhere since it's for your job.
00:02<Celelibi>Good night.

The status can be changed with a Dbus call; however, no matter what I try the network connection is cut before anything can happen. This seems to be NetworkManager's doing which doesn't have a "pre-down" script function (yet). NM also seems to beat pm-utils (sleep.d), so that doesn't work

08:59<gernot>abrotman, well, eventually. Maybe this helps: I personally suspend my laptop using a script that sets Psi's status to offline just before actually triggering the suspend action. If I used network shares I could run unmount commands first as well. I'd like to do something similar for whatever happens if you close a laptop's lid.

15:40<me_2>whitefox: just reinstall, when you get to the point where it asks you to install software don't check any of the boxes. Leave desktop, laptop, server, print server etc. all blank.
15:41<me_2>then you will have a very basic debian system you can build on
15:41<me_2>that's what i do
15:41<wollie88>why reinstal when you have a running system
15:41<trico>im trying to write a python script on wheezy that connects to a MSSQL DB, but i keep getting Can't open lib '/usr/lib/odbc/' : file not found. I already installed freetds, unixodbc, and freetds. what package has that file?
15:41<me_2>wollie88: because he sounds like he wants something really lightweight
15:42<WhiteFox>no wollie rite nw am running crunchbang
15:42<me_2>and customized...
15:42<me_2>if you are running crunchbang, then nevermind...
15:42<wollie88>if you remove the other environments its just as light
15:42<me_2>that's about as light as you will ever get it on your own.

23:24<rostam>knopwob, yes please help me I am trying to configure eth0 for dhcp and eth1 for static IP. thx
23:25<rostam>the current preseed that I have make eth0 dynamic (dhcp). but eth1 not sure what to do about it.
23:26<stderr>Which IP-address, netmask, gateway and so on do you want to use on eth1?

23:30<rostam>knopwob, from what you have I am missing "auto eth0"
23:30<stderr>Seems correct. (Except for the weird netmask on a 10.* net)
23:30<stderr>rostam: And "iface eth0 inet dhcp"
23:30-!-eebrah [~eebrah@] has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
23:31<rostam>stderr, the mask should be class a. After reboot I do not see eth1 to plumb, but eth0 is up and has dynamic IP address.

23:32<stderr>Yes, would be the normal netmask for a 10.* net. The broadcast address would normally be
23:34<rostam>i will try that now thx

23:38<rostam>stderr, still after reboot eth1 did not plumb do I have to do something extra other than editing /etc/network/interfaces ???

23:43<rostam>knopwob, thanks for feeback, but eth0 is plumbed fine
23:45<knopwob>is this a desktop machine? are you using any other network manager thingy?
23:46<rostam>should I start network manager manually??
23:46<knopwob>then your desktop network manager might be overriding whats written in /etc/network/interfaces. in this case you should configure your static ip in your network manager
23:46<stderr>Can we see the output of ifconfig -a first?

23:58<stderr>rostam: You probably just have to remove the "network-manager" and "network-manager-gnome" package. Or whatever other "network-manager-*" you have installed.
