05:26<aidalgol>I think I'll have to do that.
05:27<dualbus>I'm not sure if there's a debian specific solution to this problem, but I've used some custom wrapper scripts when I have my custom python or other system installation
05:27<aidalgol>Next question: I have a (different) 32-bit executable which ldd says can not find, even though it's in libgl1-mesa-glx:i386 which I have installed.

05:30<aidalgol>ok, this may be a problem then
05:30<SynrG>glx-diversions is supposed to divert the version of glx you're not using
05:31<SynrG>this allows multiple glx implementations to coexist
05:31<SynrG>(of course, only one may be in use)
05:31<aidalgol>It seems to be diverted so that the libgl1-nvidia-glx version is used instead.
05:31<SynrG>right. so if you are using nvidia non-free, this is the normal state of affairs
05:32<aidalgol>And trying to install the i386 build of that package enters dependency hell.

14:43<somiaj>centrx: what would you call a minimal system then, its been a while but I didn't think the standard task was much more than would be installed with the netinstall or debootstrap
14:44<somiaj>spippi: just make sure at the boot screen you goto advanced and choose a different desktop enivorment. I'd suggest lxde if you want to go light weigh
14:44<sney>somiaj: check the link I gave him
14:44<somiaj>spippi: if you don't select the different de at boot you will get gnome by default
14:44<sney>spippi: ignore somiaj, he's falling asleep here
14:44<somiaj>oh sorry, yea forgot they had that set up on the cd's, to use to using netinstall. (:

14:45<spippi>but i have 2 partition

14:46<centrx>somiaj, Maybe the standard task does not have all packages with Standard priority, but Standard priority has quite a few unnecessary things
14:47<spippi>how i can format only the first for lxde?
14:47<adminewb>gui question: I'm running wheezy with a minimalist xfce4 desktop; am I able to use the network-manager-applet package to more easily configure wireless, with pulling in hundreds of MB of gnome?
14:48<adminewb>without* that is
14:48<centrx>adminewb, I don't see any package named 'network-manager-applet'?
14:48<adminewb>let me check
14:49<centrx>adminewb, in general, you can look at the dependencies that are going to be installed before approving the install
14:49<adminewb>I figured as much but couldn't find the details how to do that
14:49<petn-randall>adminewb: That's a source package.
14:49<centrx>adminewb, network-manager-gnome does depend on a bunch of gnome things

14:50<centrx>adminewb, the 'network-manager' package provides another interface, and probably does not depend on gnome

14:50<centrx>adminewb, you can also use wicd-gtk
14:50<petn-randall>adminewb: If you don't want them, make sure not to install recommended dependencies.
14:51<adminewb>and to avoid recommends: getting marked, you use a cmd line switch in aptitude?
