00:53<somiaj_>sleser: I thought most flash videos were normal videos using a flash player, if you can get a hold of the actual video (like with a scirpt like youtube-dl) you can then play them with the player of your choice
00:54<sleser>i dont want to download it just view it
00:54<sleser>some one was trying to teach me to chek the scripts . inside dom
00:54<sleser>i couldnt learn it .it was hard to learn for me
00:54-!-knoppix_ [] has joined #debian
00:55<somiaj_>To view it you end up having to download it, flash players usually download it to a tmp location then delete it
00:55<sleser>but every time i gave him random links he gave me a exact link for vlc to play it
00:55<sleser>realy ?
00:55-!-knoppix_ is now known as Guest13654
00:55<sleser>i didnt know that
00:55<somiaj_>yea and vlc does teh same thing, you give it an internet item to play and it downloads it and plays it, only difference is they use it as a tmp file, not a full file
00:56<sleser>i see never mind then
00:56<sleser>thanks somiaj_

15:49<planetmaker>Guest13726, that needs some context... shell variables are variables defined in the shell you use. And which it usually expands to their value when used in commands or expressions
15:50<planetmaker>of course there are some variables which are the same for every user, so you might call them 'global' in this context

16:23<babilen>nixnoob: The kernel you just installed has been installed because you wanted to install it. I have no idea *why* you wanted it, but it shouldn't cause any problems.

19:39-!-arand [] has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
19:40<retrospectacus>andremarzano: no; uninstall mahjongg and gnome and gnome-games, then install the other things you want to keep.
19:41<sney>andremarzano: 'gnome' and 'gnome-games' are just metapackages anyway, they can be removed without sacrificing your desktop
19:41<sney>if things get really crazy you can use equivs, but it's not usually necessary
19:41<andremarzano>i wont lose my graphic interface?
19:42-!-vrkalak [] has joined #debian
19:42<dpkg>methinks metapackage is a package that normally exists for convenience. It has no content, it just depends on other packages so that you don't have to have a hundred things on an apt-get/aptitude command line. The version of a metapackage can be misleading -- look at what it depends on instead (see the kde metapackage for an example).

22:20<hjst>hmm, so I installed some updates (wheezy) & rebooted my laptop - now my USB drive mounts at /media/usb1 instead of /media/DRIVE_NAME, and clicking the unmount button in KDE gives a permission error and refuses to unmount the drive
22:21<hjst>this was all working as expected prior to the update/reboot - any ideas where I should look to investigate?

22:59<spinny>is there a git server with the debian kernel version? Have some patches that work fine with the ones pulled off of but not the debian version.
23:00<supaplex_>marciosouza: tabs are there. google drive squashed that somehow.
