00:09<somiaj>circ-user-f9Wnu: you can see if the same issue is there, they are looking for a file name which isn't there, so repeate what I did.
00:10<circ-user-f9Wnu>ln -sf /usr/lib/ /usr/lib/
00:10<somiaj>oh wait, no you don't want to do that
00:10<somiaj>didn't realiå it was a libssl issue. the version of libssl in wheezy is 1.0.0 and I don't think you want to change that or will be compadable with that
00:10<somiaj>,v libssl
00:11<judd>No package named 'libssl' was found in i386.
00:11<circ-user-f9Wnu>so what do i do
00:11<somiaj>,v libssl1.0.0
00:11<judd>Package: libssl1.0.0 on i386 -- wheezy: 1.0.1e-2+deb7u12; wheezy-security: 1.0.1e-2+deb7u13; jessie: 1.0.1i-2; sid: 1.0.1j-1; experimental: 1.0.2~beta2-1
00:11<somiaj>circ-user-f9Wnu: I am unsure, you will have to read the documentation from the place you got this software from. It seems it is dependent on stuff that may not be compdable with wheezy

03:40<babilen>dagurk: I'd use a directory in, say, /srv (e.g. /srv/downloads), add both users to a group (e.g. "download") and give that group suitable permissions. You scheme would mean that you have to give that user read access to /home/user2 which you might not want to do. You could then also symlink ~/downloads to /srv/downloads and use xdg-user-dirs to even integrate that directory with filemanagers

05:47<babilen>grummund: Yes, you have to do that if you want it to pick up new configuration. This is documented in rsyslogd(8) under SIGNALS
05:47<babilen>fwiw, the init script should do that on reload and logrotate should do that too. And above all those files are configured by default so I am not sure why you had to tinker with that.
05:48<babilen>grummund: How come you ended up in this situation? Which version of Debian is this and would you consider the behaviour you saw to be a bug?
05:48<grummund>babilen: i'm not sure either. considering that the config files are untouched
05:51<grummund>the empty log files were created on 'Oct 5', with logs continuing to go to .1 versions of the files

05:53*grummund wonders if it could be related to a package update around that time (Wheezy).
05:55<babilen>grummund: logrotate does send HUP to rsyslog during the rotation cycle (so that rsyslog starts logging to the new file/filedescriptor) -- I've seen similar behaviour due to logrotate bugs, but haven't encountered that in a while on wheezy. :-/
05:56<babilen>It's definitely bad behaviour and shouldn't™ happen, but figuring out what triggered it exactly might be tricky and would probably be quite an invasive investigation.

06:50<SynrG>also see which that patch you found links back to. there is a question raised there by the bug filer about whether it's tied to a specific kernel version or not. if it is, it seems it is appropriate to include in linux-tools-*, but if not, maybe it would be better packaged as 'cpupowerutils'. in any case, i imagine #debian-kernel would have something to say about this. out of my depth.

14:05<SynrGy>Peter1234: first of all, the wiki is community maintained, so "official" doesn't really have any meaning ... it's a page where a bunch of people have voluntarily contributed what they think works
14:05<SynrGy>Peter1234: second, it has some options. which did you follow? are you using bumblebee alone, or bumblebee-nvidia?
14:06<Peter1234>SynrGy: bumblebee-nvidia

14:08<SynrGy>so you have to explicitly say what you tried, what you expected, and what results you got instead.
14:10<SynrGy>Peter1234: are you on wheezy, using bumblebee-nvidia from backports, for example? you didn't say.

15:33<aletheia>hello folks, has someone some experience with fstab? -i put an entry to a partition, but can only write as root. i looked at the man pages and suppose now to change the fourth field to "user". Is that right? I could furthermore not find any explanation on the "defaults" that is pinned on my other partitions.

23:22<miiichael>I was looking for some PHP packaging wisdom. Specifically, a local (non-PEAR) PHP lib package here requires PHP5.3 or later, and was wondering how to express that dependency. "Depends: phpapi-20090626+lfs | phpapi-20100525+lfs" seems to be the wrong way to go about it...
