06:16<dpkg>If you have a question, just ask! For example: "I have a problem with ___; I'm running Debian version ___. When I try to do ___ I get the following output ___. I expected it to do ___." Don't ask if you can ask, if anyone uses it, or pick one person to ask. We're all volunteers; make it easy for us to help you. If you don't get an answer try a few hours later or on See <smart questions><errors>.

14:00<MrGrymReaper>I'm currently having trouble with installing debian via netinst media. The network card in the Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P motherboard is a Realtek Gigabit LAN chip which require rtl8168g-2.fw file. I have downloaded this to a USB flash drive but when I insert it into my PC where the installation will occur it doesn't seem to accept the firmware file. It is a Debian Linux 8.2 installation media.
14:02<MrGrymReaper>Can anyone please tell me why it isn't accepting the firmware which is what the firmware required dialogue is asking for?
14:05<zykotick9>MrGrymReaper: as an alternative, have you tried the unofficial netinst with firmware included? best of luck.
14:05<amacater>You may find that the network card will work without the firmware - some of the Realtek chips will work without. Once you've installed install firmware-realtek from non-free.
