11:04<owenh>My original question: will it be possible to run stock Debian Stretch on a AMD Geode LX700 (which seems to be a 586)?
11:05<owenh>Or perhaps better, does anyone know whether the AMD Geode LX700 can run a 686 kernel?
11:05<bremner>owenh: kernel will be at least 4.3, so I guess you can search for upstream kernel support for geode on 4.3.

15:02<musca>well, you can put that option into some conf file. But I don't know the exact name of the file.

15:03<zykotick9>Gamer1990: at the grub prompt for your kernel try using "e" to edit and append the b43.allhwsupport=1 to the end of the kernel line... test if that work, if so edit /etc/default/grub with the change.

21:05<twb>zfsonlinux (third-party) isn't working for me, and I don't know how to troubleshoot it.
21:07<twb>I'm trying to replace a wheezy install with a live jessie install. I built the latter with the same zfs packages (but for jessie). When I boot it, journalctl says zfs-mount.service is pissed about the lack of "modprobe zfs". When I try to modprobe zfs by hand, it says there's no zfs.ko.
21:07<twb>It *looked* like dkms was only building something called "spl", not "zfs".
21:08<twb>Aha! Found a problem. This isn't aborting the build!

22:19<twb>Hydroxide: yeah it's my fault, I'm just grumbling, it's not a real problem
22:19<Hydroxide>twb: I can imagine it's easy for Debian developers to overlook a dependency like debhelper or similar since they usually have that installed on their dev/test boxes. that is ideally avoided by running test suites in a minimal chroot but the real world is often less than perfect - perfection is good only as an aspiration, not an expectation.
