02:17<prem>how can i add secure boot support in debian?
02:17<prem>right now am not able to install debian with secure boot enabled machine
02:17<prem>how can i do that?
02:17<somiaj>afiak debian dosen't support secure boot.

02:19<Teapotrick>Err, ahoy. Is it currently possible to build (produce) snaps on stable?
02:20<jm_>are you sure you don't want to talk to ubuntu folks about that?

02:23<jm_>yeah I realized you are asking about debian stable, but the thing comes from ubuntu so you'd probably have more luck asking them

02:25<Teapotrick>jm_: I see! Any opinion/consensus here about Snaps? They seem... Immature.

02:30<Teapotrick>jm_: In that they're easy to install? :P Windows apps aren't all statically linked, and snaps don't have to be statically linked, as far as I can tell. There seem to be multiple other solutions already available though (ie. appimage)
02:31<jm_>Teapotrick: as in each one brings its own libraries, which remain unpatched etc.

12:43<mdlpe>hi, i'm on jessie x64 and I need a package in testing. I added testing on my sources.list, update but i can't see the package I want
12:45<mdlpe>if i maka a #apt-cache policy i can see libkdcraw23 4.4.14 but not 4.15.08 ?
12:46<jmcnaught>mdlpe: mixing stable and testing is not safe and will either break your system or result in a partial upgrade to testing, and tears.
12:46<mdlpe>mdcnaught, probably but I need the uptodate raw library for my camera

12:48<mdlpe>jmcnaught, I began by the backport but it's the same version of the libkdcraw23.
12:49<jmcnaught>mdlpe: what do you mean you began by the backport? not all packages are in the jessie-backports repo
12:49<jmcnaught>some people make their own backport packages, but according to judd this particular package cannot be backported

14:34<ansgar>At least the former might happen with stretch, but then there is always the "long tail".
14:35<awwal>magyar, the best way for switch from i386 to amd64 is reinstalling, what ever you do (the possibilities existing right now) you end with a broken system or half broken

15:34<zeek>xorg.conf is autogenerated by nvidia-settings, I didn't modify it so there should be no error
15:34<somiaj>well you should be able to set up the resolution and anything you can configure with xrandr in the xorg.conf file so it uses it by default
15:34<somiaj>oh that might be your problem, nvidia generates very poor xorg.conf files (espcailly now since xorg autodetects most things)
15:34<zeek>nice to hear
15:34<somiaj>You should need only the stuff you want that is not default

19:52<grummund>using a chroot with script to build a debian raspberry pi image. apt-get from the debian repo is fast but getting the kernel from elsewhere seems normal download speed.
19:55<themill>is it using apt to get the kernel?
19:56<grummund>is there a way to test it outside the chroot?
20:02<themill>you can load up apt with a stack of options to point it to a local sources.list etc; tools like apt-venv probably do that better these days

21:15<starstuff>do I need to do something?
21:16<somiaj>it isn't a bad thing, it is just you have chosen to install lots of software from jessie-backports
21:17<somiaj>you just need to ensure the version of your i386 libs match the amd64 libs. Due to pinning your command is prefering the jessie version over the jessie-backport version, which then removes a dependency in which lots of other packages depend on
21:17<starstuff>my nouveua was crashing constantly until I updated
21:17<somiaj>adding the -t jessie-backports makes jessie-backports pin higher thus allow you to install the packages correctly
