02:53<kanliot>hi, i'm coming from mint, where I could just mount disks with udisksctl mount -b /dev/sdc1 Now, I can't do that because it pops up a dialog. Can I still do this, since sudo doesn't work?
02:54<phos>kanliot: just add your user to the sudo-list
02:55<kanliot>then the disk gets mounted under /media/root/disklabel. I still need help I guess.
02:56<phos>kanliot: ok, so where exactly is the problem? the mount is where it is supposed to be under Debian...
02:57<phos>sorry still early morning here - coul dbe that I am still a bit slow ;)
02:57<kanliot>naa, i recognize your name phos
02:58<phos>ok is that good or bad? XD
02:58<kanliot>is there a gui tool for polkit since i guess i have to muck in there. I want to use udisksctl without mounting the disks as root
02:58<phos>aha
02:59<kanliot>i have enough trouble with systemd just refusing to reboot the system

03:01<phos>kanliot: for the mount-issue I would guess that you need to allow a non-root user to be able to mount media.
03:01<phos>that *should* allow udisksctl to be use by non-root users as well.

08:14<trash666>hey, it seems something in my system broke when I detached cable & battery off my notebook (spilled water on the keyboard..) however, since then my system (debian stretch) won't boot properly: after succesfully decrypting the drive (cryptsetup set up successfully). instead of starting gnome shell it will just show some error messages about "failing to start tor.service" (which has nothing to do with gnome-shell i
08:14<trash666>assume). i tried starting "gnome-shell --wayland" on TTY2 with no success (not even an error message). i checked APT logfile for a interrupted package upgrade that might be the cause but the last installation was unrelated. when i tried "apt-get install -f" nonetheless, i'd receive an error message (28) that there is no more diskspace to write on. for the same reason i have to provide the root password every time i do
08:14<trash666>a sudo command (cant write into >/var/lib/sudo/ts/user<: no disk space available". i googled the error message and found advice to run "sudo fsck -Af", which aborted because the filysystem is already mounted, and "mount -o remount /" which just didn't have any output/response, and I searched for filesystem errors with 'dmesg | grep "EXT4-fs error"', also with no output. after that i tried to read the syslog file but
08:14<trash666>it's just full of seemingly irrelevant information (cloudsync daemons starting etc) and i don't really know what to search for. anyone has an idea/advice where to start?

13:25<avsdev-cw>I wonder if anyone can help: I am trying to get debian net-install onto a Dell PowerEdge 2900, (the machine POSTs fine, the isolinux instance loads and displays the menu, no issues reported in any of the Dell Diag tools so assume H/W is good). If I install an old debian release (lenny/squeeze) the install is fine, however a later edition (stretch) causes the server to reboot instantly with a critical error when I select the "Install" option. I THINK
13:25<avsdev-cw>I have narrowed it down to the RAID drivers in debian as when I disable the RAID hardware in the BIOS I can load the installer without any issues (but obviously no disks!). How can I debug this/fix this?

15:40<user01>well, it is normal functioning in alsa, but pulseaudio added it as a feature in v.11

15:44<itd>judd: versions debhelper
15:44<judd>Package: debhelper on amd64 -- wheezy: 9.20120909; jessie: 9.20150101+deb8u2; jessie-backports: 10.2.5~bpo8+1; stretch: 10.2.5; stretch-backports: 12~bpo9+1; buster: 12; sid: 12

15:44<itd>I think debhelper from *-backports should do the trick.

15:51<user01>looks like the same version i think
15:52<itd>user01: you can try to use buster instead of sid. (Can't comment on "better".)
15:54<user01>"for versions newer than sid see <uupdate>." -- that would be like creation from source, right? nothing is newer than sid in debian i thought . . .
15:55<itd>user01: yes, uupdate tries to create a newer debian package from a newer upstream ("source") version. (there's something newer in experimental, sometimes.)
