04:18<purple1>vesa
04:18<purple1>something which is universal instead of hardware specific
04:18<jm_>linux kernel supports that yes

04:19<jm_>it does when linux kernel is used (as opposed to debian/freebsd etc.)

04:47<jm_>have you tried that?
04:49<purple1>it deletes old kernels
04:49<purple1>is there no webbrowser which integrates with the ssl store of the system
04:49<purple1>it looks like it sits there for nothing
04:51<purple1>and when something doesnt work it needs to be removed
04:51<purple1>not only the surface package but all of the junk deps
04:51<purple1>where are the debian packagers

04:55<purple1>chromium with an mdns server
04:55<purple1>and no crl
04:55<purple1>if the packagers are building packages and writing patches why dont they build something to work
04:56<purple1>why is chromium built with an mdns server running
04:56<purple1>it conflics with any real mdns
04:57<purple1>and a support channel refuses to tackle a simple system managment question about removing the deps the junk installed
04:58<purple1>hey ubuntu is supposed to be the paid version

04:59<purple1>except paid for
05:00<purple1>what gets me is there is somebody doing some advanced things
05:00<purple1>patching source packages
05:01<purple1>it can be seen by downloading a source
05:02<purple1>and with ubuntu they have a paid system

05:26<cesar>Hi, I'm trying to install kernel headers for debian stable in virtualbox in order to install guest additions in order to use shared folders :) It's hanging at unpacking the kernel headers. Has anyone come across this before? I've waited 20 minutes and then cancelled the first attempt (cleaned up the mess left behind and running the second run now)
05:27<cesar>from /var/log/apt/term.log I could only gather that it's 'unpacking'. I'm not aware of other apt-get related logs
05:27<cesar>Gonna try with dpkg to get some more details if this doesn't work

13:18<jhutchins_wk>!radeon
13:18<dpkg>Radeon is a brand of graphic processing units by AMD/ATI (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radeon). The radeon open source display driver is packaged for Debian as xserver-xorg-video-radeon, optionally install libgl1-mesa-dri for 3D acceleration. Also ask me about <radeon firmware>, <radeon audio>. https://wiki.debian.org/AtiHowTo http://x.org/wiki/radeon #radeon on irc.freenode.net. For the proprietary driver, see <fglrx>.

19:04<mejo>mh, is apparmor enabled per default in Buster? or in other words, is https://wiki.debian.org/AppArmor/HowToUse#Enable_AppArmor still needed or is the wiki outdated?
19:07<sarnold>hey mejo, afaik the plan is still for apparmor to be enabled in buster
19:07<bremner>well. linux-image-4.19.0-2-amd64 Recommends apparmor. so there's that

19:11<mejo>yep, but I wonder whether I still have to enable it in the boot commandline options (i.e. in /etc/default/grub)
19:15<bremner>seems enabled for me in buster without any grub setup: https://paste.debian.net/1072933/

19:21<mejo>I verified now by explicitly setting apparmor kernel boot parameters. this didn't change anything in aa-status or the list of unconfined processes.
19:21<mejo>so apparently the wiki is outdated
19:21<mejo>will check back with intrigeri and update it accordingly
19:21<mejo>also, a paragraph in the release notes would be good
