I have also installed all the firmware package but this does not help. Where sould i start looking to resolve this issue. In Windows 10 that comes as a default on the tablet shows the battery indication. So it sould not be a hardware problem IMHO

13:20<snowyfox>Anyways, can confirm that Debian does indeed sorta not see your battery supply
13:20<snowyfox>But it is using it somehow
13:20<snowyfox>Surely the Linux kernel needs to support the battery *somewhat*...?
13:20<snowyfox>It's kinda weird because normally, seeing the battery level isn't a problem
13:20<codesnippy>lol well if the battery is drained the there goes all your work of the day :p haha so unfortunaly not perpetual battery
13:21<snowyfox>But your laptop's brand is a bit obscure, maybe it's just a driver thing
13:21<snowyfox>Yeah, that's the big risk here, you don't wanna be working when the battery is critical
13:21<snowyfox>This is a good time for a bug report but
13:22<snowyfox>One sec, looking up your laptop
13:22<jhutchins_wk>The OS usually doesn't have any concept of where power is coming from. Battery status tools are add-ons.
13:23<codesnippy>the peaq pmm c2010 is a white label lenovo product. At least that is what i could find
13:24<snowyfox>eh..? That's kinda
13:24<snowyfox>Do you know the equivalent Lenovo model then ?
13:24<codesnippy>nope that is what i have not found as of yet
13:24<snowyfox>I'm getting so many Netherlands results - must be a European laptop...
13:25-!-Texou [~Texou@000178ec.user.oftc.net] has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]
13:25<codesnippy>the peaq is a brand name of the store MediaMarkt here in The Netherlands
13:27<snowyfox>Thank you for buying local~
13:28<codesnippy>there is still windows 10 on the thing is there some information i could pull from windows that could be usefull ?
13:28<snowyfox>But I do protest them for not having an industry standard battery...
13:28<snowyfox>Someone else can probably help with that, yeah..!
13:29<snowyfox>But I don't want to bother you too much of it for now...
13:29<snowyfox>A really important one would be the battery's make and model
13:29<snowyfox>those are a lot easier to look up and compare with Debian's firmware package
13:29<snowyfox>s
13:29<snowyfox>Also, another thing
13:30<snowyfox>If you have a USB drive or DVD, and you know how to make a live CD, try running an Ubuntu Live CD on your laptop
13:30<codesnippy>are there special debian packages for battery ?
13:30<snowyfox>If the battery level shows in Ubuntu, that means that the firmware is available somewhere for the Linux world
13:30<snowyfox>Not for batteries, I think, but there's usually a bunch of firmware packages everywhere
13:30<snowyfox>You did say you installed all that you could think of, though...

13:31<codesnippy>i have installed firmware-*
13:32<snowyfox>Do you have firmware-linux-nonfree installed?
13:32<snowyfox>(I don't really recommend non-free software but aaaaaaaa
13:32<codesnippy>windows hardware id for the battery is ACPI\VEN_INT&DEV_33FE
13:33<snowyfox>Umm, how did you install 'firmware-*'..? There's no package with that name and the wildcard would be hard to deal with int he shell...
13:33<snowyfox>Yeah, that's sort of a generic/obfuscated name xD
13:33<codesnippy>i Dont prefer non-fee also but just to test i have added contrib and non-free to source.list
13:34<codesnippy>i did a "sudo apt-get install firmware-*"
13:34<snowyfox>Okay, now try installing firmware-linux-nonfree
13:34<snowyfox>Ah, I see, it does work
13:35<snowyfox>But you need to quote "firmware-*" for it to work
13:35<snowyfox>Don't do that again right now btw, I think it'd make you install a hundred xD
13:36<snowyfox>The best I can say is, explore the non-free packages and see if one of them enables things
13:36<snowyfox>But even Windows doesn't know the name of the battery, it just covers it under one of its drivers...
13:36<codesnippy>that was the first thing i did by hand "sudo apt-get install firmware-linux firmware-linux-nonfree firmware-linux-free firmware-misc-nonfree
13:36<snowyfox>Yeah, but it didn't work before because you didn't have contrib and non-free in your sources.list, right?
13:37<snowyfox>Just try again now, if you have them all installed, then it'd immediately complete
13:38<codesnippy>name of battery in windows is Intel Corporation. Location on Intel(R) Serial IO I2C ES Controller

13:40<petn-randall>If battery output is read via i2c, that is.
13:40<codesnippy>it worked I added it to the source file before instaling the firmware packages. This i already done before asking questions here
13:40<snowyfox>oo, i2c...
13:41<snowyfox>codesnippy: Do you mind if I ask another silly question..?
13:41<snowyfox>Also, looking up that name...
13:41<codesnippy>I dont mind silly questions
13:42<snowyfox>Did you restart your laptop after installing those

13:44<codesnippy>I always reboot my laptop after i Install packages in this case just to be sure they are realy applyed
13:44<snowyfox>What files are in /proc/acpi btw?

23:05<rwp>Hi rant. mega.nz would be a cloud storage provider. Somewhat (in)famous now. I am investigating https://wasabi.com/ at the moment.
23:06<rwp>But looking at what I would use to backup to it.
23:07<rwp>Wasabi is founded by the same guys who founded Carbonite. Putting all of that storage technology to use for mass consumption I guess.
