07:26<EmleyMoor>One of my machines has an insufficient /boot filesystem size. I have it as a RAID1 across /dev/sd[a-d]1, with /dev/sd[a-d]2 forming a RAID6 and /dev/sd[a-d]3 forming a mixed RAID0/linear scratch space. I can happily remove this latter part to remake it later. Is there any easy way I can increase the size of /boot?

11:17<r4fkramer>avu, thanks for answering: the 'degraded' status contrasts with the 'active' and 'running' status related to apache service.
11:17<r4fkramer>That's my doubt: why such a thing is happening.
11:17<r4fkramer>I will use this command you have passed now, thanks
11:17<avu>r4fkramer: it says one service is failing, you are showing that the failing service is not apache, so it's probably another one
11:17<avu>r4fkramer: so you have to find out which
11:19<pentium3>Interesting, "df -h /media" lists / once. Not sure why, "df -h /boot" lists only /boot, not /.
11:19<avu>pentium3: re-read the df manpage

11:49<r4fkramer>what fs is /var on - I use 'btrfs', hope it is about what you asked me. No, /var is not a separate fs.
11:49<avu>r4fkramer: we're entering territory where I have less and less to contribute. Like most people, I haven't used apache in years and I would never use btrfs on a server (or even a Desktop)
11:50<r4fkramer>Yes, but even answering like that, you are helping me: I intend to be back to 'xfs' or 'ext4' as before.
11:50<avu>r4fkramer: but assuming btrfs is not messing up (which might be a tall order to assume), and this directory keeps getting deleted, there must be some other thing doing that, I don't think there are any mechanisms by default that delete directories in /var/log
11:50<r4fkramer>I have other debian installation in virt-manager (using xfs) - it always starts apache successfully

16:29<sney>for a brand new laptop, the bullseye installer is more likely to work
16:29<sney>debian.org/devel/debian-installer I have used the alpha3 iso fairly recently and it was fine.
16:30<Fjalar>The installer is actually running - it finds the NIC and all. Just not the SSD. I can only select the pen I booted from.
16:30<sney>if you are set on installing buster, it may be possible, but it would require backports and probably installing via debootstrap from some live environment rather than the buster installer
16:30<sney>yes. the buster installer uses a 4.19 kernel that is known to not support some newer disk types.

19:11<nmschulte>Raspberry Pi 3: I have an image booted on my RPi3B; I want to play with the VideoCore IV acceleration: I know there's some vc4 drivers about, in all kinds of flavors -- is any of the latest VC4 development (Linux 5.10?) available on arm64 archive / for RPi3 image?
19:14<sney>5.10 kernels are available for arm64 in both bullseye/sid and buster-backports at least, I don't know about platform specifics though. if nobody answers here you might try in #debian-arm
