00:40<lhvf[m]>Could someone check if kingsley is still online? I've a suggestion ti him of a software that does the needed task of see and extract previous CD/DVD± Burned Multisessions.
00:40<lhvf[m]>*to him*
00:40<somiaj>lhvf[m]: no need to keep asking if someone is online, best just respond to them with their nick and they will most likely catch it when they check back.
00:44<unixbsd>the devuan live beowulf amd64 is such a mess. you forget the deb in root, and using /run for overlay, questioning?
00:44<kingsley>lhvf[m]: I'm back and would be happy to receive your suggestion for software that sees and reads multisession DVDs.
00:44<unixbsd>the x11 is not well installed on it, as well. firmware are there and good to run.
00:44<unixbsd>kingsley: k3d maybe

00:46<lhvf[m]>So I:m going to quote the best software that I use often times to recover lost sessions of a given CD-R/DVD±: @kingsley *I'm here to suggest for you the Tool required to the task of to extract previous burned sessions (CD-R/DVD± Multisessions Burning Mode). But it is proprietary and for Windows.
00:46<lhvf[m]>*I'm going* (typo)
00:47<kingsley>unixbsd: Much like you, I thought k3b might read my multisession DVD. Unfortunately, it saw only 1 session.
00:49<lhvf[m]>Hello kingsley . The tool in question is the Proprietary Software (that allows you to see 'all Burned Sessions of a given Recordable Disc' it's: ISOBuster (great "trial" Software)
00:49<Sqrt{Not}>dpkg, tell unixbsd -about devuan
00:51<kingsley>lhvf[m]: Thanks for your thoughts. I'm glad to see ISOBuster works well. I'd like to find nice, secure and free open source software.
00:53-!-chipps [~chipps@103.31.191.220] has quit [Quit: WeeChat 3.1]
00:54<unixbsd>kingsley: I did play around with sessions of dvd
00:54<unixbsd>I use the basic xterm to find out my multisessions
00:55<kingsley>lhvf[m]: A free and open source tool called 'xorriso' understands my DVD holds multiple sessions. Maybe it or similar software can read them.
00:55<unixbsd>for easy dvd: mount -t iso9660 -oro,session=2 /dev/dvd /mnt/dir
00:55<unixbsd> wodim or cdrecord -minfo ?
00:56<kingsley>unixbsd: Can you suggest an open source tool that reveals the contents of all sessions recorded to a multisession DVD?
00:56<unixbsd>wodim -minfo ? does that work?
00:57<lhvf[m]>Run the software in Windows (Wine maybe too(?) l on a VM, on a Frozen System (like the 'Deep Freeze), or a fresh install/neighbour machine or you will have to pay it, after use a second time. I only used the 'pirated version' of *Portable AppZ* until todays (and the Portablized version also allows the user to ran only a single time).
00:57<unixbsd>kingsley: I surely did it several times, But I dont remember right now
00:58<unixbsd>kingsley: for that I used the console for sure and info options. wodim is a good start anyhow
00:58<kingsley>unixbsd: I'm intrigued by your 'mount' suggestion. It suggests a few options that I haven't tried. Yet!
00:59<unixbsd>kingsley: this is surely not how I did with multisession. I used some info
00:59<unixbsd> atip or atic is option usually used
01:00<unixbsd>we used to use that for dreamcast or psx cdroms/dvd I guess
01:02<unixbsd> maybe : wodim -atic or similar
01:03<unixbsd> wodim -scanbus
01:04<unixbsd> In order to create multi-session CD (burn another image after the first on a CD supporting it), we first need to know how much data i already on the CD: cdrecord dev=ATAPI:0,1,0 -msinfo
01:06<lhvf[m]>El Torito and MKIsofs (old softwares) I know that are able to modify images, but not to Browse and navigate and also extract files and folders under of previous burned sessions.

01:15<kingsley>unixbsd: FWIW, and IIRC, when I tried '$ mount -o session=<n> /dev/sr0 /mnt/cdrom', it always mounted the *last* session instead of session number <n>.
01:17<unixbsd>maybe one needsd to do it by hand
01:17<lhvf[m]>ISOMaster software is useful here?:
01:17<lhvf[m]>https://alternativeto.net/software/isobuster/
01:17<unixbsd>create a virtual device with /dev, targetting to sectors and then mount it
01:18<unixbsd>it seems to me that by hand is likely most suited, mount is quite basic.

01:33<kingsley>Sqrt{Not}: Thank you very much. Your ability to find relevant looking documentation impresses me. Hopefully xorriso can read multiple sessions from DVDs. Some online documentation suggests the functionality is limited to CDs, but I'm happy to try your generous and reasonable suggestion.
01:36<kingsley>unixbsd: Thanks for the detailed example! The more options I have, the better my chances are of recovering data.
01:39<lhvf[m]>But on a irregular Disc (with initial CDFS of Windows XP) messed with a last session with a different Filesystem formatting of Windows Vista/7, the only solution that I've found until todays was 'ISOBuster' software. Now I use 'CDBurnerXP' for better Operating compatibility of Multi-sessions Disc Burnings.. On Linux only have tried K3B Software, good enough for Linux Burning tasks, since many time ago under Linux

03:13<broadfjord>I'm running into a weird change of behavior of ssh/bash between buster and bullseye. I've boiled the repro down to `echo 'date\nexit' | ssh -tt $remote_host`. On the bullseye machine, I am seeing ANSI escape sequences before my prompt (`^[[?2004h`) and commad ouput (`^[[?2004h`). The systems are both fresh installs with nearly identical config. I've looked through profile/bashrc and can't seem to find

03:30<teus>im not using any mdadm devices. i cant figure out to see that part of the log, once im logged in. in the end it says something about giving up waiting for that device
03:31<teus>mdadm.conf has no devices in it, fstab has an old array device commented out
03:31<somiaj>teus: do you have that devince mentioned in /etc/fstab? Have you checked for systemd mount units?
03:32<teus>md7 isn't in fstab
03:33<somiaj>teus: systemd-analyze blame -- does it have any service listed as taking a long time?
03:33<teus>im not familiar with mount units, let me look that up
03:35<teus>6.6s networkmanager, 950ms root disk, 860ms for my NAS mount
03:36<somiaj>teus: hmm, so almost sounds like this is happening before systemd starts. Maybe check grub configuration, anything in /etc/grub.d/? or /etc/default/grub?
03:36<somiaj>teus: if a systemd unit was taking 10-30 seconds to run, that should have been listed, so wonder if you need to go look at the grub configuration or initramfs image.
03:38<teus>grub.d direcotry has configs for second disk which boots windows, but isn present
03:38<teus>that disk is just a /dev/sd[abc] thing

03:39<somiaj>did you do anything special to mount it?

09:15<petn-randall>hi wild3, do you want to beta-test the unreleased bullseye?
09:16<wild3>no, but a friend told me that it was pretty stable now
09:16<wild3>is it?
09:17<petn-randall>wild3: It's still unreleased.
09:17<wild3>do you know when it will be released?
09:18<petn-randall>wild3: Other than that, it's already in a fairly good shape. However, you might still find game-breaking bugs in it.
09:18<petn-randall>!wwbr
09:18<dpkg>Now Debian "Bullseye" is the current testing branch as of 2019-07-06 and it will be released "when it's ready."
09:18<Noisytoot>wild3, Change "stable" or "buster" to "testing" or "bullseye" in /etc/apt/sources.list, then sudo apt update, then sudo apt dist-upgrade
09:18<petn-randall>wild3: If I'd have to guess, some time this summer.

10:37<superkuh>Just relating my personal experience. I have a bullseye install but I still have to use the 4.19 kernel.

But I have some concerns about writing messages to the public email lists as the archive reveals users email addresses, it's known that malicious webscrapers collect email address to send SPAM. 12:21<somiaj>teus: /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume -- that should contain the uuid of the swap filesystem for hibernate, maybe update that.

12:23<somiaj>Eduardo: not really, gmail does a fairly good job at keeping things in the spam filter. Also gmail's rules for even getting into the spam box are fairly strong these days (it is way harder to send mass emails than it use to be). Now not suggesting gmail, but I think if you use some big named email service you'll be fine. Might be different if you want to say host your own mail server.
