05:57<amacater_>3. Make sure that you have non-free in your /etc/apt/sources.list
05:57<Luder>ok now I try a standard basic netinstall for test if is it a kernel problem or a driver X bug

05:59<amacater_>This all because nouveau doesn't always play well with all Nvidia cards and sometimes you need to make the non-free modules
05:59<amacater_>[I write this a lot answering people's questions on Debian user mailing list]
06:00<amacater_>If nouveau has problems, then often you get lockups such as you describe
06:00<Luder>do you said, that is better have non free? Insterad official netnstaller? I don't know this trick...
06:01<amacater_>Non-free because it will install any obvious (non-Nvidia) firmware.
06:01<amacater_>Expert install because it will prompt you to enable non-free in the /etc/apt/sources.list
06:01<Luder>thank you amacater

07:15<azeem>nikos: you want to link the llvm stdc++ using g++?
07:16<koollman>that's probably something that should be added to debian documentation. But you can have a look there : https://libcxx.llvm.org/UsingLibcxx.html for g++ example

14:44<Tortola>Good afternoon to all. Does anyone know how to get Debian 11 to search for a wifi connection? I have downloaded the wifi adapter firmware (for RTL8821CE) but it is not active searching for a connection
14:45<Tortola>I dont know if this firmware is currently working with linux now or not. I have been trying to solve this issue the last 2 days and have yet to find a solution.
14:47<Tortola>Any assistance would be appreciated. I have Debian 11.1 running on a HP 15T-DY200, with an Intel i7

14:48<bremner>Tortola: if you are using authenticated networks, you probably want to install network-manager
14:48<Tortola>I am confused, isnt there a network manager preinstalled on Debian?
14:49<Tortola>I must be mistaken, what i see on the taskbar is called "network Connections". so this is not the same as network manager?
14:49<bremner>yes, it is the same.
14:50<Tortola>ah ok then.
14:50<Tortola>When installing debian, I used the non-free version.
14:51<Tortola>I will say during nstallation, It claimed that an ethernet port could not be found. even though the list for ethernet firmware does have RTL8821Ce on there
