12:52<LinodeJavaUser>has anyone ever seen an apache-launched python script that couldn't see mounted disks? For instance, say / is /dev/udba and /l is /dev/udbb, the script can see everything under / but os.listdir throws a permission denied exception listing /l, and os.path.isdir returns false for /l. I've verified that the script is running as the apache user and `sudo -u apache ls /l' works just fine. Has anyone seen anything like this befo

18:04<@caker>warewolf: they just came out with the updated MBPs a few days ago
18:04<warewolf>mine is a dual core one
18:04<warewolf>macbook pro
18:05<@caker>these are core 2 duo (core duo 2)? .. however you call it ...
18:05<@caker>initial MBPs were core duo (minus the 2 part :)
18:05<warewolf>ok so how many cores are there
18:05<warewolf>two or four
18:05<@caker>anyhow, I've been waiting for them to update em
18:06<@caker>I think it's means the version of the core duo
18:06<warewolf>I hate intel's naming scheme.
18:08<@caker>Did you get the anti-glare, or glossy screen?
18:11<cmantito>caker: ping.

18:23<@mikegrb>cmantito: for you, it will be no problem ;)
18:28<@mikegrb>"station 8, MVA bravo response intersection of tower and gulf beach hiway - This is going to be as a result of another MVA that was a hit and run, she went to pull into the tom thump on mobile hwy and he left, she took off after him and they ended up in a second mva at this location, sheriff's office is responding 10-18"

21:37<@caker>damn time conversions
21:38<@caker>morning of the 29th we change clocks
21:40<@caker>internat: I haven't tried xen 3.0.3 yet, but xen seems to be getting more stable
21:40<internat>ah ok
21:41<@caker>there still isn't any way to crank down on io abusers, so that's something I still have to look into
21:41<internat>ok, thats obviously a concern then, cause if people start thrasing everyone is goign to suffer badly
21:42<internat>do u have any potential ideas for how to crank down on io abusers?
21:42<linbot>New news from forums: Host Reboot Schedule - Host 10, 14, 18 - 2006-10-29 10PM EDT in System and Network Status <>
21:42<@caker>yes, two ideas
21:42<@caker>well, three, but the third is hackish
21:42<internat>ah ok :)
21:43<internat>and im assuming by the update on the webpage the dns manager is going along nicely?
21:43<@caker>Yeah, it's done (bugs and all)
21:43<@caker>I finished it today -- I just haven't turned on the nameservers yet (but the zonefile/stub generation is complete)
21:44<@caker>oh, with the exception of slave domains .. that'll be v1.1
21:44<internat>thats definatly good news.. i so want to get away from dyndns as my dns provider.. costs to much.. but i didnt want to just run dns on my node incase it goes down, then cant point to the backupmx etc
21:44<internat>slave domains being where it downloads it periodicly from the master?
21:45<@caker>Ability to have your (or someone else's) nameserver slave off Linode's masters for your domain, OR have Linode's DNS servers slave off your nameserver
21:46<internat>ah ok, which is pretty much what i just wanted.. i think.. yeah cause of dynamic updates.. thats kewl, i can live with static for the moment :)

21:49<@caker>my faulty
21:50<otherbbs>Evening caker. Have you had a chance to take a look at my ticket?
21:51<@caker>I'll check now, since Mike didn't get around to it
21:51<otherbbs>Thanks, weather here is getting nasty and need to sign off shortly.
21:52<@caker>ok, I just restored your token values -- it likely happened because of swapping
21:52<otherbbs>Was hoping to have this resolved before we lose power again.
21:52<@caker>you're borderline into the dangerous swap amount (80M or so)
21:52|-|internat [] has quit [Quit: This computer has gone to sleep]
21:53<otherbbs>Yep, time for an upgrade.
21:53<@caker>might want to reduce apache threads, mysql mem limits, etc
21:54<otherbbs>I've trimed as much as I can. Would prefer to use lite sql, but been unable to get my app to work with any stability with it.
21:54<otherbbs>I just need to put in a ticket for an upgrade, rigth?
21:55<otherbbs>Thanks, looks like a reboot might give me a bit more memory, since you added that a while ago.
21:56<otherbbs>Thanks again.
