07:03<tabarry>Hi, I have a strange problem related to email. I have a linode, installed with VestaCP with Ubuntu 14.04. I have hosted several domains on this linode and one of it is giving issues. This problem domain was earlier hosted with another hosting company, uses Google MX settings and is verified and was working fine. For the sake of hiding the real domain identity, I will call it Domain1.com. Domain1.com has Google MX settings, set at Linode DNS Manager,
07:04<tabarry>below. aspmx.l.google.com 1 Default ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM 5 Default ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM 5 Defaul ALT3.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM 10 Default ALT4.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM 10 Default
07:04<tabarry>All domains on this linode are unable to send email to any email addresses on this @Domain1.com, but can send emails to other Gmail accounts. Whether I send email from webmail or from script, emails are not delivered. The error I get is as below.
07:04<tabarry>This message was created automatically by mail delivery software. A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed: php.max@Domain1.com Unrouteable address
07:04<tabarry>Similarly, I send email from @Domain1.com email address to any other domain on this server, I get the following error.
07:04<tabarry>The response from the remote server was: 550 Verification failed for <php.max@Domain1.com> Unrouteable address Sender verify failed
07:04<tabarry>Please help.

07:09<grawity>looking through your exim4 logs would probably help a bit with debugging this
07:09<grawity>and if you post them for us to read but edit damn near everything out, that's going to be useless
07:09<Woet>you most likely have local delivery turned on.

07:10<Woet>grawity: yes.
07:11<dcraig>domain1.com doesn't even have MX records! :D
07:12<tabarry>ok. The domain is sulata.com.pk

12:02<nate>Linode ToS doesn't say anything about adult oriented content does it? Pretty sure it didn't used to
12:02<nate>so I would imagine their 'illicit' violation probably fell on more law-oriented violations
12:04<praetorian>yeah, the terms in the ToS is not illicit, it's illegal
12:04<dzho>which makes the title wording strange
12:08<nate>If I were to guess, perhaps it was notification by some level of LEO using their laws definition of illicit and they just kinda copied and went with it?

17:31<retro|blah>Welp, my Linode is now once again logging kernel messages to serial console.
17:33<Peng>You're saying that in a *bad* way, right?
17:33<Ikaros>Ok so I came across a bizarre issue with mine. While I was attempting to run mtr from both ends to try and catch it in the act of flapping connectivity randomly (like it had been doing for the past few weeks)...it did anything BUT flap, it was perfectly fine the entire time I left mtr running on it tracing back to my home IP. But soon after I stopped mtr, it was right back at it.

17:33<Peng>something something neighbor discovery?
17:34<Ikaros>For some reason connectivity dies over IPv4 if I'm not constantly sending some form of data out from it (such as in the case of mtr)
17:34<Peng>Oh. Something something ARP?
17:34<Ikaros>The drop is brief, but it's JUST long enough that, if it occurs at just the right time, it splits from the IRC network it's linked to
17:34-!-mode/#linode [+l 361] by ChanServ
17:35<Ikaros>Peng yeah I'm used to seeing that behavior over IPv6 especially in the early days of its deployment.
17:36<Peng>:<
17:36<Ikaros>Where a ping 'wakes it up'
17:36<Ikaros>But yeah
17:36<Ikaros>I've never seen this with IPv4 before
17:36<Ikaros>And what's more, the IPv6 connection is *perfect*
17:36<Peng>:D
17:36<Peng>Down with legacy Ip
17:37<Ikaros>I mean if I had wanted to I could link the server to its IRC network over IPv6 if I was just looking to keep its link stable.
17:37<Ikaros>And it'd probably be perfect
17:37<Ikaros>But that won't do, 'cause it serves users too
17:37<Peng>Oh.
17:37<Ikaros>At the time it was running stock Debian 3.16.x kernel via direct disk.
17:38<Ikaros>So what I did was switch it to use a Linode kernel instead
17:38<Ikaros>And I'm currently monitoring
17:38<Ikaros>The fact it stabilizes when mtr's running means it's impossible to catch it in the act.
