05:05<nebula>Hey guys. Don't know if anyone can help me, but here it goes. Recently I noticed the following message on my message logs "nf_conntrack: default automatic helper assignment has been turned off for security reasons and CT-based firewall rule not found. Use the iptables CT target to attach helpers instead."
05:05<nebula>I can also check this message on lish console.
05:05<nebula>After some research I tried to turnoff the nf_conntrack module in order to get rid of this message. I flowed basically https://home.regit.org/netfilter-en/secure-use-of-helpers/ but it didn't help me much.
05:06<nebula>However, in my local centos instalation having "/proc/sys/net/netfilter/nf_conntrack_helper = 0" cleared the message.
05:06-!-mode/#linode [+l 362] by ChanServ
05:06<nebula>One thing that cames to my mind is the fact my linode instace use linode kernel and my local centos instalation uses centos kernel. Could this message be related with this? how do i should proceed with in my linode instance in order to clear this message?

05:14<Woet>as many as you like.
05:15<Guest772>so you mean unlimited?
05:15<Woet>yes, its a Linux VPS, why would there be a limit on users?
05:16<Guest772>no much better if unlimited
05:16<Guest772>one more question
05:16<Woet>you know what a Linux VPS is right?
05:16<Woet>its rather important

05:18<Woet>i guess not
05:18<ponas>at some point he'll hit UID_MAX tho

05:19-!-mode/#linode [+l 361] by ChanServ
05:19<Woet>he'll run into other problems before that
05:23<scotti>he probably wants to install OpenVZ on his Linode 1GB
05:23<scotti>divide it up into containers
05:23<scotti>in that case
05:24<scotti>he'll need to make some adjustments to his VZ.conf
05:24<scotti>for each container
05:28<arlen>more likely they're used to shared hosting and have no idea what they're doing

07:22<arlen>mtr?
07:23<arlen>check your logs?
07:23<Zimsky>SINGAPORE SERVER
07:23<shahzoor>Mine is singapore server too. Working fine
07:23<Zimsky>Jidelee: https://status.linode.com
07:23<Zimsky>that should be the first thing you check
07:23<arlen>no incidents reported. have a great day.
07:23<Zimsky>otherwise, you should be checking your server logs
07:23<Jidelee>Ok thks.
07:23<Zimsky>if you can't connect to your server normally, use lish via the manager
07:25<shahzoor>How to find where is postfix log file?
07:25<shahzoor>I think I got it. 'mail.log' :s
07:26<Zimsky>of course I'd love to say that postfix itself the issue and the solution is to use literally anything but postfix
07:26<Zimsky>(see: postfix sucks)
07:27<Zimsky>there should also be a mail.err file
07:30<shahzoor>What does this mean? warning: database /etc/postfix/virtual.db is older than source file /etc/postfix/virtual
07:30<shahzoor>I've been playing with virtual file lately

07:33<dzho>I know. Everyone should go back to using sendmail.
07:33<dzho>what could possibly go wrong.
07:34<Zimsky>dzho: laughter
07:35<Zimsky>I think I will actually write a new MTA/SMTPd
07:37<shahzoor>Sendmail is best?
07:37<dzho>shahzoor: sendmail is powerful and complicated and probably not what I would recommend, in all seriousness.
07:38<shahzoor>OOOKKK
07:38<shahzoor>Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual alias table (make me understand this please!) Where is this alias table?
07:38<dzho>probably /etc/aliases but you should look in your config files
07:44<shahzoor>It is /etc/aliases mentioned in config files
07:45<shahzoor>why 3 domains are forwarding and the new 2 domains are not forwarding the emails?!

07:54<dzho>short answer is "we don't know, and can't know unless you tell us a lot more"
07:54<arlen>shahzoor: need to use postmap, sudo postmap /etc/postfix/virtual
07:55<arlen>then reload/restart postfix
07:56*dzho takes notes
07:56<shahzoor>So I had followed this guide to forward catch-all email address to gmail account (I knkow a lot of SPAM i am inviting). Worked fine as expected with 3 domains. Not recently added 2.
07:57<shahzoor>Arlen, Did that. restarted. I dont know what postmap does but it didnt give any error.
07:57<arlen>after the postmap command restart postfix and see if it's working now
07:58<shahzoor>OMG! OMG! It worked LOL
07:58<dzho>heh

07:58<shahzoor>Thanks Arlen, Dzho
07:58<arlen>postmap creates the virtual.db file your error was about

15:16<DaAlexMax>dwfreed: erm....forgive me, but what does it mean to have "high availability baked in"?
15:16<dwfreed>if the system that provides the nodebalancer goes down, it fails over to a backup system automatically

18:23<zifnab>i'm replacing a consul cluster, consul's running in upstart, upstart restarts on 'consul leave', which is not the point of leave
18:23<zifnab>...so, consul leave && halt works fine
18:26<dwfreed>zifnab: on any sysvinit system, 'halt' just means switch to runlevel 0; generally the last item in runlevel 0 is a call to poweroff, so it properly turns off system power
18:26<zifnab>and systemd, of course, does its own thing?
18:26<dwfreed>yep
18:26<zifnab>because its systemd and its a special snowflake

18:27<Eugene>Hence "S"
