01:35<dcraig>I don't get the naming scheme at all
01:35<dcraig>a Linode 16 is a high memory plan, but a Linode 80 clearly has more memory, but it's a low memory plan
01:37<MrPPS>are they still partly named by cost + RAM size, instead of all RAM size?
01:38<FluffyFoxeh>The Linode 80 also costs 10 times as much so it makes sense to me
01:38<dcraig>is FluffyFoxeh high memory or low memory?
01:39<FluffyFoxeh>I'm very high memory
01:39<FluffyFoxeh>;p
01:39<dcraig>is that like a new category?
01:40<MrPPS>alpha stage
01:40<MrPPS>block storage as ram

We have a domain purchased at GoDaddy that was already pointing to some external NS, and we wanted to change those NS to linode's. We changed the old ones for ns1.linode.com to ns4.linode.com and it seems to have started propagating. The problem is, many DNS servers now list our domain as having no NS at all, which means we cur

09:59<marcaparent>The domain is groupesalette.com and it has been added to our WHM instance as an addon domain on another account. The DNS Zone is already imported to what is was before the NS change (MX/TXT,etc) except the A Record of course. Have any of you encountered this problem before? Is there something I should do to fix the issue and the current downtime, or should I just wait for the DNS to propagate? FYI, it's already been 16 hour
10:00<akerl>Did you add groupesalette.com to Linode's DNS Manager?
10:01<marcaparent>I don't think so. That's not accessible from within WHM right?
10:01<akerl>You told your registrar to use Linode's nameservers

10:02<akerl>So you'd need to log into the Linode Manager, go to the DNS section, and add your domain and its records

19:58<sdf__1>is linode best for nodejs website hosting?
19:58-!-mode/#linode [+l 368] by ChanServ
19:58<@caker>yes
19:59<hays_>why is storage like s3 so much cheaper than storage directly attached to a vps?
19:59<hays_>i can see that it would be cheaper, but its like a fifth the cost on AWS for example
19:59<hays_>that seems like a huge gap

20:10<Anurag>Is it true??
20:10<encode>quick question, is the ubuntu 14.04 LTS image 64 or 32 bit?
20:11<Anurag>Is anyone there to reply me because I am about to buy ousting
20:11<millisa>Anurag: no
20:11<millisa>!cpanel
20:11<linbot>Install cPanel on CentOS: https://www.linode.com/docs/websites/cms/cpanel-on-centos Linode does not sell cPanel licenses, but it's provided free to Linode Managed customers: https://www.linode.com/managed Or try a free panel like Webmin: https://www.linode.com/docs/websites/cms/webmin-control-panel Or just use the command line: https://www.linode.com/docs/platform/linode-beginners-guide/
20:11<zifnab>encode: everything is 64bit
20:11-!-mode/#linode [+l 369] by ChanServ
20:11<@jfred>(with the exception of I think one older slackware image)
20:11<zifnab>kernels need to be for kvm to actually function afaik, you can still do a 32bit userland w/ a 64bit kernel but thats insanity and best of luck
20:12<@jfred>so for all practical purposes: yes, they're all 64-bit :P
20:12<encode>jfred, zifnab ok thanks
20:12<Anurag>Millisa I know about installing Cpanel on centos but I I want you to have a look on this please
20:12<Anurag>https://www.linode.com/managed
20:12<encode>zifnab: yeah, i want to move from a linode that has exactly that, 64bit kernel and 32 bit userland
20:12<millisa>Anurag: scroll down to the bottom. managed costs money (it's the only $ sign on the page)
20:16<Anurag>I still did not understand. I already have hosting in aws and I have installed WHM and Cpanel on centos. My WHM and Cpanel is trial version so I need something where I can get WHM and Cpanel free and this website states the same
20:16<Anurag>So I need to know how can I have free WHM and Cpanel as they are stating to provide me
20:16<millisa>cpanel/whm is not free.

22:52<CodeMouse92__>VirtualBox is not a VPS....
22:52<millisa>no, but it's plenty good for development
22:53<CodeMouse92__>Sure, but that's irrelevant. it doesn't fulfill any of the purposes of a VPS.
22:53<CodeMouse92__>I mean, Atom is free and plenty good for development, but it's an IDE, and therefore beside the point.
22:53<lan>true

22:54<lan>it's free for 1 year for the minimal package
22:54<lan>for testing
22:54<CodeMouse92__>lan: Linode isn't free, but it's inexpensive and there aren't any weird strings attached.
