02:58<millisa>Neelu: that testfile.sql you created is plain text, you can look in it and see your database(s) and table(s)
02:59<Neelu>i got my file..thanks a ton guys for your support..
02:59<Gianni>I am interested in a company that can provide cloud hosting so that i can resell it. right now i resell shared hosting but i would like to upgrade. What services does limode offer?
03:00<millisa>Gianni: did you look at the website? https://www.linode.com/pricing
03:00<Woet>Gianni: what turns regular hosting into "cloud" hosting in your book?
03:02<Gianni>Yes I did. My first question is do you guys provide 1 on 1 live chat support or only chat support in chat rooms? I am now putting my customers on a dedicated server with WHM and each customer gets a cpanel. As a result since no customers are having dedicated ram the hosting services which i offer are quit slow. So I would prefer to give each customer his own cloud hosting hosting package with dedicated ram.
03:03<Woet>Gianni: what turns regular hosting into "cloud" hosting in your book?
03:03<Woet>Gianni: the support options are listed at https://www.linode.com/contact
03:03<Gianni>according to me with cloud hosting each hosting package has dedicated resources such as ram and cpu usage?
03:03<Woet>Gianni: so you mean a VPS?
03:04<Gianni>I am not knowledgeable about hosting i am looking for something which i can resell to my customers
03:04<Gianni>they are very happy with www.cloudways..com
03:05<Woet>Gianni: don't you think having knowledge of the thing you're selling would be a good idea?
03:05<Eliz>probably ..
03:05<Gianni>i think u are condecending
03:05<Eliz>Gianni: so, my two cents?
03:05<Gianni>but maybe your english is bad and you dont realise that
03:05<Eliz>there's a ton of you guys that come through here with the same exact question
03:05<Woet>Gianni: it's spelled condescending.
03:05<Eliz>my answer? you're providing no value, you don't understand what you're selling, and you should reconsider your position
03:05<Gianni>well this is a commercial support forum
03:06<Gianni>or am I wrong
03:06<Eliz>incorrect
03:06<Eliz>!ops
03:06<linbot>Users with ops are employees of Linode, and know what they're talking about. The rest of us are the ever-so-helpful(?) community. Official Linode contact information: https://www.linode.com/contact
03:06<Woet>Gianni: actually, this is a community chat. as clearly mentioned on the page I linked.
03:06<Woet>"Chat with the Linode community on the Linode IRC channel. Join #linode on irc.oftc.net or use the web-based IRC tools."
03:06<Eliz>Gianni: unfortunately, that means that we have opinions too, and our opinions are rather bleak right now.
03:07<millisa>Gianni: Take a look at the https://www.linode.com/docs/getting-started page; it goes over what setting up a linode is like. That might give you a hint if it's what you are able to do.
03:07<Gianni>yes my opinion is that you are a bully who thinks he is superior
03:07<Gianni>which might give u a ego boost
03:07<Gianni>but it makes no sense
03:07<Gianni>anyway have a nice day

15:07<sirin>i have aquestion about the pricing
15:07<Peng_>What's up?
15:07<sirin>do they still charge you even after you shutdown your node?
15:08<dwfreed>yes
15:08<Peng_>Yes, it costs money as long as it exists. The disk is still there. RAM and so forth is reserved for when you turn it back on.
15:08<dwfreed>resources are reserved for you, so you still have to pay for them; to stop paying, you have to delete the Linode
15:08<sirin>hum
15:08<sirin>thanks
15:09<@scrane>If you keep the data on the disk below 2GB, you can take an image of that and use it to redeploy when you need the Linode again.
15:10<millisa>(another interesting use for the block storage when it goes live)
15:12<@scrane>!point millisa

15:14<dwfreed>millisa: I mean, you'd still pay $0.10/GB
15:14<dwfreed>but that's cheaper than a whole linode
15:14<millisa>yeah, but its easier to fit an install into 10gb than 2. and you'd just pay a buck to keep an install around
15:15<dwfreed>config management
15:15<millisa>and if you are booting direct off the block store, it gets even easier to take the image live and stuff

19:29<greg0sky>Hi all, can somebody advice what should I do if I lost my phone with my google authenticator I used to use as 2nd factor and also my one-time scratch code does not work?
19:29<millisa>you'll need to contact support; they'll ask you for account verification things (like pics of the last couple digits of the card)

19:31<greg0sky>thanks, sounds straight forward :-)
19:31<millisa>reference is here: https://www.linode.com/docs/security/linode-manager-security-controls#recovery-procedure (not that it says much other than to write to support@linode.com to get the process started in a case like yours)
19:34<greg0sky>I have pinged them an email, thanks @mellisa

21:38<zifnab>is there a general timeline on block storage being out of beta?
21:38<zifnab>this year? 2019?

21:51<Eugene>Before the heat death of the universe would be nice.
21:55<rsdehart>let's be realistic here
22:01<FluffyFoxeh>https://forum.linode.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=15333 says they start charging on January 1, 2018. So I assume that's when the beta ends
22:03<Peng_>The heat death of the universe is in December right
22:05<FluffyFoxeh>it also says that it's free during the beta. by modus tollens, one can conclude that when it is no longer free, it is no longer in beta
22:06<FluffyFoxeh>did I do that right
