11:54<hawk>arby: (My impression is that the Linode nameservers seem to be fine)

12:05<linbot>New news from community: Failed to start OpenDKIM DomainKeys Identified Mail <https://www.linode.com/community/questions/17690>
12:08<hawk>Sure, but that's essentially what the ednscomp test suite did as well (more thoroughly). As for an official statement from Linode, I don't know if there is one. I also don't know if any changes were made as a result of the whole flag day thing; it's entirely possible that they were already compliant when this became a topic of discussion.
12:10<arby>Right. Just looking for that 'step' between oh-looky!-we-stumbled-into-compliance and we-did-so-carefully-and-knowingly. that's all.

14:01<millisa>there was a howto put together a year or so ago
14:02<millisa>https://www.linode.com/docs/tools-reference/custom-kernels-distros/install-alpine-linux-on-your-linode/
14:02<millisa>it's not too bad
14:02<Dreamer3>yeah
14:02<Dreamer3>so after that if i wanted to do it a lot i should script it or copy the base image myself?
14:02<millisa>i would do a gold image that's small and spin up from that image. alpine base should fit in under 2gb
14:03<Dreamer3>gold image
14:03<Dreamer3>?
14:03<millisa>you can call it platinum if you like. a linode image. these things that you can have 3 of: https://www.linode.com/docs/platform/disk-images/linode-images/
14:04<smallclone>the easiest way IMO to reuse a custom image is to keep it as a small disk on one of your linodes then clone it: https://www.linode.com/docs/platform/disk-images/disk-images-and-configuration-profiles/#cloning-disks-and-configuration-profiles

18:48<cryptoconsultor>hello
18:48<millisa>hi
18:48<_ShaZam_>The way I understand linode managed is that it's all the linodes on your particular account, but you're free to create another account and not use managed. So if you have one linode it's $100 a month, if you add another linode on that account (even if you don't want it managed it's another $100 a month for a total of $200). Is that correct? Also can these linodes only be managed in a time of crises or once you go managed you don't go
18:49<millisa>_ShaZam_: yes to the question about it being all on the account and $100 each in that account. if you want some unmanaged linodes, do another account

18:50<_ShaZam_>@millisa and that's the life of the account if they're managed or can you have it managed only certain months out of the year?
18:51<millisa>I'm not sure what the process might be for removing managed from an account.
18:53<_ShaZam_>Ok. Thank you.
