01:04<OC>Hello! I am looking up VPS providers to set a cryptocurreny node instance. Would this be in any violation to your ToS? I am looking at the dedicated VPS packages
01:09<chesty>!tos I vaguely remember something mentioned about mining
01:10<chesty>it mentions excessive use of cpu, but that doesn't make much sense for dedicated cpu plans, it makes sense for the other plans.
01:14<OC>Thank yoU i will look. It's not mining heavy, but the dedicated page says for applications like data mining...instances where you need 100% every day
01:16<OC>"including but not limited to employing programs that consume excessive network capacity, CPU cycles, or disk IO" .... so if you use up 100% of the stated bandwidth, and peg the CPU at 100% (wouldn't be the case in my instance) as stated would be ok on the blog post...would that be against ToS? haha. confusing
01:17<chesty>The tos was written before the dedicated plans were available
01:17<chesty>at least that part of the tos
01:17<OC>thank you for clarifying
01:17<chesty>btw, I'm just a customer, not an employee
01:18<OC>I was wondering :)
01:24<wraeth>Chanops in here are staff and know what they're talking about. The rest of us like to think we do. :)
01:29<OC>hahaha. well, it's a good sign to see that non-staff hang out in here
01:29<OC>been ages since I've been in an IRC chat

01:35<Jaldeep>Can I Ask Some Q About Hosting ???
01:35<nate>ask away, if we can answer we will :P
01:37<Jaldeep>Per Month 25,00,000 Page Views So Linode 4GB Standard Plans Is Better Or Not ???
01:39<nate>That's really not a metric easily answered, there are a lot of things that go into calculation of hardware with traffic. That said scaling up with linode usually isn't all that difficult so if you find you need more capacity you can always migrate up when needed
01:39<Jaldeep>Which Plan Is Better My Requirements ???
01:41<nate>Like I said that's not a metric easily answered, "Page views" are not a valid metric. It largely depends entirely on your content/technology/etc used. a 4G linode with a crappy software framework on it might be able to handle a dozen views at a time, a good setup w/ performance tuning could handle vastly more. If a 4GB linode is within your comfortable budget range, start out with that
01:41<nate>And if you find a need for more oomph you can always upgrade your linode or try getting someone to squeeze some performance out of your setup with tuning of software stuff
01:42<Jaldeep>Standard Plans Installed Cpanel ???
01:42<Jaldeep>I do not have technical information
01:43<nate>It does not, but you can get a VPS license from cPanel I -believe- for $15-20 a month
01:43<nate>Alternatively if you're just looking for a general management interface, there are open source variants like webmin that might be worth checking into
01:43<Jaldeep>Everyone says it is necessary to have technical knowledge to use vps
01:44<nate>Well VPS's are a root-level system, you're expected to manage the system (keep it up to date, secure, etc). Linode -does- have managed and professional package plans where linode will do some level of assistance with this, you can read more about those here; and
01:46<Jaldeep>Ok Any Free Cpanel Plan ??? Or Pricing ???
01:47<nate>Read up a couple lines, I answered that already :P
01:47<Jaldeep>Ok Managed Vps Right :-)
01:48<Jaldeep>How Many Price Managed VPS ?
01:48<Jaldeep>Yearly ?
01:49<nate>The pricing for those are listed on the two links I gave above, as well as details on what all linode will do for each service
01:49<OC>so I tried signing up for an account and it said needs to be approved, but when I go into the user area I see the option to create an I am confused lol
01:49<nate>OC: It's possible you got approved already then
01:49<nate>Some approvals are quick, some aren't, just depends on what got flagged I believe
01:50<Jaldeep>Ok Thanks For My Help :-)
01:50<Jaldeep>Have Nice + Good Day
01:50<Jaldeep>Good BY

01:50<OC>But the "Create" dropdown works
01:51<nate>Well could give it a shot anyways, might prevent you from that. Admittedly I'm not super familiar with the new 'cloud' dashboard interface, I still use the classic manager lol
01:52<OC>haha thanks nate. biggest concern is not getting billed twice, but I'm sure they can refund if that happens
01:55<OC>ok I tried and I got the prompt that the account must be activated
01:56<OC>ohhhhh I think I know what flagged it
