12:49<Isolaweb>I opened a ticket to regarding the IP change request for the server I have been waiting for two days for an answer with several reminders but without results. Can you kindly answer me and proceed as requested? Thank you so much. Antonio Sunch Isolaweb Srls
12:57<Nivex>Isolaweb: This is a community chat channel. If you are in need of a more timely response I suggest you telephone.
13:00<Isolaweb>Thanks I am amazed that in 36 hours there is no one in the support reading the emails
13:02<Isolaweb>The fax is always busy
13:03<Nivex>I'm sure there are many people in support, but there are likely more emails than people.

21:20<Cromulent>I have a really weird issue - I have a Wordpress blog installed on a brand new Linode but it is running really slow - I only have two plugins installed (Jetpack and Akismet anti-spam) and another Wordpress blog on another Linode is much faster
21:45<react>Cromulent: That's not particularly much to go on. What have you done so far to narrow the scope?
21:46<Cromulent>react: I can see it swapping in Longview Pro
21:46<synfinatic>if you're actively swapping then you need more ram or have something eating too much ram.
21:46<Cromulent>honestly though I have no idea as I set both sites up one after the other using the same steps
21:47<synfinatic>ssh in and look at memory usage (top, free)
21:49<react>Cromulent: swapping isn't inherently bad, without more data I'm not ready to condemn your memory management
21:49<synfinatic>yup, systems will use swap
21:50<Cromulent>hmm well it won't even let me SSH in
21:50<Cromulent>the other one is fine
21:53<synfinatic>try lish? or worst case, reboot from linode console
21:54<Cromulent>ok managed to SSH in
21:55<Cromulent>had to try as root and got the permission denied message (I disabled root logins) and then tried the normal user again and it let me in with no delay
21:55<Cromulent>it seems to be mysql using the most RAM - 29.1%
21:56<Cromulent>636MB RAM usage
21:58<LouWestin>maybe there's a bot brute forcing into the site?
22:01<Cromulent>I doubt it - the site is brand new as of last night
22:01<Cromulent>but there is a lot of network delay
22:01<Cromulent>the server is pretty much at 0% CPU usage but still takes ages to open a new page
22:02<Cromulent>plus I put the server in London which is about 20 minutes away from me
22:02<Cromulent>by car
22:04<Cromulent>ah I think I figured it out! It was my VPN
22:16<esselfe>try tcpdump :P
22:16<esselfe>(always handy)
22:18<esselfe>damn today I tried to setup IPv6 on google cloud, terrible experience honestly. You guys nailed it, so simple, Linode++
22:23<esselfe>someday someone will be like, how do I enable IPv4?
22:31<LouWestin>!pointt Cromulent
22:51<Nivex>A prominent EU based hosting provider has already raised fees for v4 addresses and is starting to offer IPv6-only nodes with an added cost for v4. itshappening.gif
22:58<kharlan>Can't wait for the forever-ipv4 groups to come out of the wood work
22:58<Ikaros>I feel I use said prominent EU based hosting provider. >.>
22:59<linbot>19:07:23 <HoopyCat> zaaaaaaaaaayo, zaaa-aa-aaa-aaaa-yoooooo, latency come and me wan' go home
23:00<Nivex>those folk look exhausted ;)
23:00<Ikaros>Only reason I mention is because I recall a customer email from one of my hosts describing this very scenario - IPv6-only nodes with increased cost of v4
23:01<Nivex>Hetzner is the provider I'm thinking of
23:01<Ikaros>Then I was right.
23:01<Ikaros>And I noticed it on my last invoice already lol
23:02<Nivex>I do wonder what Linode's IPv4 stock is like.
23:02<Ikaros>Probably something along the lines of "you don't really wanna know"
23:04<Nivex>What's that grinding noise? Oh, that's just us scraping the bottom of the barrel.
