00:31<Captain_Murdoch>cool, I have the commercial detection code checking for the program TV rating block that shows in the upper left corner. if it sees it, then it makes sure that frame is not part of any commercial.

08:51<nziarek>i've searched through the archive, but can't seem to find any mention of happens on both last nights CVS and the tarred MythMusic:
08:51<nziarek>In file included from cddecoder.cpp:11:
08:51<nziarek>cddecoder.h:6:21: cdaudio.h: No such file or directory
08:51<nziarek>cddecoder.cpp: In member function `int CdDecoder::getNumTracks()':
08:51<nziarek>and it keep going with different errors "incomplete type and cannot be defined"
08:52<moegreen>you need to find the cdaudio.h file and put it in your include directory or point cddecoder.h to it
08:54<nziarek>is there something I should have installed that is missing?
08:54<moegreen>and if you don't have the cdaudio.h file you might have to install the something else
08:55<nziarek>i'll read back through the docs. after having installed it once, I noticed I was a lot less thourough the second time through
08:55<moegreen>probably libcaudio
08:55<moegreen>or cdparanoia

10:16<nziarek>i went in to look at the new UI for the playback box and Myth segfaulted on me. I don't have any recordings right now. Hope this can be of some help (probably not :)
10:32<nziarek>also, i have a new page started with a component-by-compnent overview of my changes. suggestions are encouraged
10:47<mdz_>Chutt: what do you think of bruce markey's crazy profile ideas?

12:22<moegreen>nziarek: it currently needs to have at least one recording, i'll be working out that problem a little later
12:37<nziarek>ok. good to know I didn't install something else wrong :)
12:38<moegreen>nziarek: i should have something in cvs momentarily
12:38<moegreen>but with no recordings - it's kinda hard to see it's behavior :)

16:32<PeteCool>thor_: the patch on the list to accept a Space is for mythtoolbutton right?
16:32<thor_>No, I think MythRemoteLineEdit ... but I could be wrong
16:32<thor_>hang on
16:33<thor_>this is a bit confusing as there are two thor's (that doesn't happen very often)
16:34<thor_>I wrote MythRemoteLineEdit, thor johnson submitted the patch, which is indeed for MythRemoteLineEdit
16:44<PeteCool>nziarek: I don't really like your epg mockup (liquid-to-iulius page): it doesn't hold enough information
16:44<PeteCool>nziarek: but it looks great, as usual ;)
16:44<PeteCool>maybe with smaller fonts it'd be ok though
16:51-!-bigguy [] has joined #mythtv
16:57<PeteCool>nziarek: how does your EPG mockup look like with a half-hour more information? good, bad?
17:39<moegreen>PeteCool: that EPG mockup isn't far off from what the alternate epg is, it should look fine w/ more channels and time slots
17:41<PeteCool>moegreen: btw, did you consider not showing anything at the bottom of the next UI screens when you're selecting between the "program groups" (the left part of the selection lists)

17:42<PeteCool>or some filler... having a show listed there without having any selected is a little weird
17:43<PeteCool>filler == Some mythtv logo, maybe
17:44<nziarek>PeteCool: I agree that the current EPG doesn't show much info; since I didn't change much aside from adding the title at top, I was just trying to show what the alt EPG would look like in it. Photoshop is hell at the tedious (like making those boxes and words), so I gave up kind of early.
17:44<moegreen>PeteCool: that would be possible to do (and quite easy), but the way it is now shows more information
17:45<moegreen>so it's a trade off
17:47<PeteCool>it could be an option ;)
17:49<PeteCool>no, it's fine
17:50<moegreen>heh, ANOTHER option in the setup "Show MythTV logo instead of information if you haven't selected a show in the playback screen" :)
17:56<PeteCool>OT: what other IDE raid makers are there besides: 3ware, adaptec, promise and highpoint?

19:50<moegreen>Alright now my ATI TV Wonder VE really sucks - I mean it sucked before, but I thought it was just the cable
19:51<vektor>how doe sit suck?
19:52<moegreen>the picture that is coming into it isn't nearly as clear as what's coming into a newer card I just got working, running off the same cable split
19:53<vektor>You sure you're using the right tuner with the TV Wonder?
19:53<vektor>It's misdetected by the bttv card.
19:59-!-nziarek [] has quit [Read error: 60 (Operation timed out)]
19:59* NonToxicwas secretly hoping the same about the WinTV
19:59<NonToxic>quality != good on the wintv
19:59<NonToxic>wintv light or whatever, even
20:14<merf>my tv just took a turn for the worst
20:20<Chutt>moegreen, there's rather large differences between the tv wonder ve i have and the wintv-radio
20:20<vektor>Chutt: what do you see as the difference?
20:20<vektor>i have a wintv go and an ati tv wonder.
20:21<moegreen>I figured there would be...i just got the win-pvr-250 working and it was just a bit bigger difference than I thought there would be
20:21<Chutt>vektor, the picture is much better
20:21<vektor>on what?
20:21<vektor>on the wintv-go ?
20:21<Chutt>on the wintv-radio
20:21<vektor>sorry, radio? :)
20:21<Chutt>the ve is pretty junky
20:21<vektor>you sure it's not the tuner?
20:22<Chutt>yup, easily can tell the difference even after a bunch of fiddling around
20:22<vektor>can you show in screenshots?
20:22<vektor>maybe i just have a good one...
20:22<vektor>or maybe mine isn't the VE
20:22<Chutt>you've got a tv wonder
20:22<Chutt>not a ve
20:22<Chutt>they're totally different parts =)
20:22<vektor>they're that much different?
20:22<vektor>oh :)
20:23<moegreen> newcard.jpg and oldcard.jpg
20:24<moegreen>I guess that's what the value edition gets you though :)
20:24<Chutt>moegreen, mine's not as bad as that, but..
20:25<vektor>oldcard.jpg does seem like there is a tuner misconfig though
20:25<moegreen>i've tried a couple different tuners, most of the channels on the VE are great
20:25<moegreen>well not most, some i guess
20:28<PeteCool>moegreen: does the updated playback screen use the setup-specified font sizes?
20:29<moegreen>PeteCool: not yet :)
20:29<moegreen>I assume you mean the Large, Medium, and small fonts
20:29<PeteCool>moegreen: anywhere in the code where I can change that?
20:30<PeteCool>yeah, that's what I mean
20:30<moegreen>i'll change it real quick, there are a couple places
20:42<moegreen>PeteCool: it's in there now, some stuff might overlap if the fonts are too big, i've yet to write a couple more things that are needed to make the info display more dynamic
20:47<PeteCool>moegreen: great! I can't try it for at least an hour though: recording a movie now
20:48<PeteCool>I read in a mailing list posting it was possible to make a script to start mythbackend, and make sure it stays up... does that make sense?
20:51<moegreen>yeah, but i haven't had any problems with the backend dying on me
21:04<PeteCool>you mean it's possible to watch a process and take action if it dies? Didn't know that
21:06-!-nziarek [] has joined #MythTV
21:07<nziarek>can anyone point me to what I need to change to get my ATi TV Wonder VE recognized correctly in Mandrake 9? I can't find it in the archives (and its my question!)
21:17<PeteCool>nziarek: is there a file named /etc/modules.conf on your system?
21:17<PeteCool>nziarek: recognized, do you mean it's set up wrong and looks weird?
21:18<vektor>nziarek: It should work with the bttv kernel driver.

22:02<Chutt>tryin to figure out how best to do something
22:09-!-nziarek [] has joined #MythTV
22:10<nziarek> thanks guys- i managed to find it...the TV Wonder VE isn't recognixed properly so you have to add a few options lines to module.conf
22:10<nziarek>next question is: howlong does it take to rip a CD?
22:10<nziarek>on my slower windows PC it takes about 5 miuntes
22:11<nziarek>on this much faster Linux machine it take ~20

22:19<moegreen>nziarek: it depends on the cdrom drive as well as the cpu time to encode the file to mp3 or whatever
22:20<moegreen>nziarek: i've had a few cdrom drives advertised as 48x/52x, but really kinda suck for audio extraction
22:21<nziarek>have you tried one? how long does it take on yours?
22:22<PeteCool>nziarek: also depends if you're encoding as you read from the cd, or you're writing the 600megs+ of wav files to disk, then converting them
22:22<Chutt>cdparanoia's really slow, too
22:22<moegreen>i usually use audiograbber in windows, never really timed it but I'd guess it's about 10 or so minutes per cd
22:23<nziarek>ever tried it with MythMusic?
22:24<moegreen>no, my myth pc isn't as accessible as my laptop :) At least physically
22:26-!-nyquiljer [] has joined #mythtv
22:27<nziarek>ah :) well, it is working, and that is more than I hoped before this drive.
22:27<nziarek>just hoping it'd be faster. I have a lot of CDs to convert :)
22:27<nyquiljer>anyone using a duron 1200 to encode and decode at once? it was too choppy for me back when i tried it, but i didnt have dma enabled..
22:28-!-bigguy [] has quit [Read error: 113 (No route to host)]
22:29<moegreen>nyquiljer: i've got an athlon 1200 and it's fine, depending on the resolution settings (live tv, mpeg4, 352x480)
22:29<nyquiljer>moegreen: how much ram?
22:30<moegreen>nyquiler: 256mb, pc133 sdram
22:31<nyquiljer>moegreen: cool, i was trying to decided if i needed to buy 512 or not
22:31<PeteCool>nziarek: you don't need to use mythmusic for ripping, you can use another, faster computer
22:31<PeteCool>nziarek: I prefer cdex for that, runs in windows though
22:33<nziarek>my Myth machine is my fastest and I want to use the complete/integrated solution.
22:33<Ndiin>cdex is pretty good.. but its major fault is just what you pointed out ;)
22:33<Ndiin>I tend to use grip myself.
22:36<nziarek>Chutt: is there an alternative to cdparanoia you've considered, or is it a non-issue?
22:37-!-bigguy [] has joined #mythtv
22:37<Chutt>i don't know of any alternatives
22:37<Chutt>i haven't looked, thoug
