01:01Captain_Murdo| Chutt, you around?
01:02Chutt yah
01:02Captain_Murdo| Any idea why the RECORDING_LIST_CHANGE MythEvent is sent inside the delete file thread after the file is deleted instead of in the main delete method?
01:02Captain_Murdo| the recorded table entry is long gone by that point in time.
01:02Captain_Murdo| it's after the file deletes.
01:03Captain_Murdo| it meaning the event.
01:03Chutt so the frontend will update with the proper free space left
01:03Captain_Murdo| ok, makes sense.
01:03Captain_Murdo| :) I never use the delete screen.
01:04Chutt heh
01:05Chutt if you use xfs or some other file system that deletes fast, it's not much of an issue =)
01:05--- <<-- Netslayer [] has quit (Remote closed the connection)
01:05adante do people here dedicated fs's specifically to myth?
01:05Captain_Murdo| I'm going to consolidate the recordedmarkup delete and file delete into a single thread. not sure why I ever put the recordedmarkup into a separate one. this way I can also add a "Stop All Jobs" call in there as well since it might have to wait a short bit while the job is stopping.
01:06Captain_Murdo| post-release though.
01:06adante just wondering, as i'm sitting it on a reiser raid with everything else in the system atm
01:06Chutt captain_murdoch, sounds good.
01:08--- ---> Netslayer [] has joined #mythtv
01:10Chutt captain_murdoch, oh, i'm planning on generalizing a helper class for 'spawn a thread, do work, send me a message when done'
01:10Chutt should clean up small stuff like that delete thread a bit
01:12Captain_Murdo| ok, quite a few things that can be wrapped with that.
01:20rkulagow chutt: here's what i've got so far:
01:20rkulagow v0.16.00, 2004-09-07. Version bump. Cedric Teffts' AMD64
01:20rkulagow update. David Greaves' suggestion about mythcommflag and the seektable. Add
01:20rkulagow a section on differences between a PVR-250 and a 350. Add bugzilla pointer.
01:21Captain_Murdo| rkulagow: is that suggestion about rebuilding the seektable? does it use the --rebuild option?
01:21Chutt sounds good
01:21--- <<-- WhizNDR- [] has quit ("Leaving")
01:21rkulagow c_m: yes
01:21Chutt i really don't see how people can have questions about what the difference between the 250 and 350 are
01:21Captain_Murdo| ok.
01:22rkulagow <sect2>Frontend appears to be slow at jumping / seeking.
01:22rkulagow <sect2>On-screen Display shows incorrect program length.
01:22rkulagow <p>This may occur when MythTV doesn't have an accurate seektable. Run
01:22rkulagow <bf>mythcommflag --rebuild</bf>
01:22rkulagow chutt: you obviously don't hang out in -users enough.
01:22Chutt s/enough/at all/
01:22rkulagow chutt: lucky you.
01:23Chutt =)
01:23Chutt i mean, all someone has to do is read the description
01:23Chutt s on hauppauge's page
01:23Beirdo you miss out on all the idiotic questions that's for sure
01:23Beirdo except the ones that still make it into here even with the topic the way it is
01:24--- ---> bleedinge [] has joined #mythtv
01:24Beirdo man, my devel box has been grinding on globalsettings.cpp for half an hour. I think I need more than 128MB RAM for that box :)
01:24Chutt heh
01:26Beirdo I shouldn't be shocked, g++ isn't known for being light on memory
01:26Chutt it actually isn't so bad if you disable optimizations for that file
01:26Chutt but, qmake doesn't seem to want to do per-file cflags
01:26Beirdo yeah. that figures :)
01:27dopester tryin to get a dev box up tonight.. konsole doesnt want to work.. says it cant find some fonts.. have to use xterm for now i guess.. nothing but idiotic posts on the net that i can find about it too..
01:27Beirdo I am a firm believer in using -O6 whenever practical anyways, so I'm not gonna mess with the -O3 that's there now

08:01o_cee in classic, search is named the same as search words in the default theme..
08:02o_cee also, in tv_search.xml, TV_SEARCH_DESCRIPTIONS needs to be renamed TV_SEARCH_KEYWORDS as in default.

10:37Chutt heh
10:38GeckoFiend working on this gui separation for the scheduled recording but I've not certain I'll have it done and tested before I have to leave for an interview.
10:39Chutt i'm not putting out the release until late tonight
10:39GeckoFiend Dropping back a revision on the managedlist stuff should solve the slowness, since they'll not be creating all those list entires for the start/end offsets
10:39Chutt right
10:39Chutt would like that to be in there, though
10:39GeckoFiend Chutt thikn you could take a look at bug #78 and see if you can repro that one?
10:40Chutt i did last night

11:01Chutt how hard's the gui abstraction looking to be?
11:05GeckoFiend I think I'm close.. I've got to figure out how to deal with some of the stuff that gets filled from the database.. Right now just trying to get a baseline working I can debug from.
11:08GeckoFiend they're going to have to get a new database pointer...
11:09GeckoFiend now that I've gotten this far the thought occurs to me that it probably would have just been easier to build the list items for the bounded integers when the sub list activates.
11:09Chutt if you had made it more like the old settings code =)

12:38GeckoFiend thor_ spiffy!
12:41Chutt heh, cool.
12:41Chutt thor, it making sense so far?
12:41thor_ sort of
12:42thor_ although for the life of me, I can't seem to munge a MainWindow * return so that I can build a libmythui-based plugin (as opposed to a standalone)
12:42thor_ bot a biggy
12:42thor_ err, not
12:45Chutt heh
12:45Chutt what do you mean by MainWindow* return?
12:46thor_ I want regular old libmyth to give me a Window I can draw on using libmythui
12:46Chutt need to use libmythui's main window
12:46Chutt with the GetMythMainWindow() function
12:46thor_ yeah, I was messing with it this morning, probably just hadn't had enough coffee

13:21thor_ key press would run you through it
13:22o_cee GeckoFiend: or if you could tell me what they're named
13:25dhofstra o_cee I think you were asking about including the 'search words' and 'search lists' menus in classic exactly how they appear in default. the xml I gave gecko only fixed the broken watermarks in titivillus for the old search descriptions and search listings
13:26o_cee nah i don't mind it beeing as it is now, but search thre is named the same as search words in the new menus
13:27o_cee so the new one needs to be named something else than "SEARCH"
13:28o_cee you with me?
13:29dhofstra ahh, so are you talking about the actual names of the xml files, or the buttontype names?
13:29o_cee <mythmenu name=
13:30o_cee so that the titles are correct
13:30dhofstra now I'm with ya
13:30o_cee great :)
13:31o_cee this is what i want:
13:31o_cee <image mode="SEARCH">title/title_search.png</image>
13:31o_cee <image mode="WORDS">title/title_search_words.png</image>
13:31o_cee <image mode="LISTS">title/title_search_lists.png</image>
13:31o_cee or something like that
13:31o_cee also, in tv_search.xml, TV_SEARCH_DESCRIPTIONS needs to be renamed TV_SEARCH_KEYWORDS as in default.
13:32dhofstra yeah, I agree, I dont think gecko understood that from the last post, we will have to grab his attention to this... but he is awfull busy
13:33o_cee i could send a diff together with my updates, but that'll break titivil and blue(?)
13:34dhofstra wouldnt titivil and blue need to be fixed anyway? I mean this is something that needs to be done for this release right?
13:34o_cee yeah, classic doesn't work as it should
13:35o_cee but blue doesn't use titles so
13:39dhofstra I think that if gecko reads the above chat he will see what to do and get back with us before the release... want me to shoot him an email with the above just incase?
13:39o_cee nah that's ok, he'll probably see it

18:47thor_ post from Daniel on -dev
18:47Chutt it's slow because all you people are trying to access it
18:47Chutt and i'm trying to do stuff on there
18:47Chutt i should've just shut stuff down
18:47dopester do it if ya need to
18:48dopester did ya last nite?
18:48o_cee thor_: yeah that's the one i sent to chutt a little while ago
18:48thor_ ah, ok, nm
18:48--- <<-- schultmc [] has quit ("Client exiting")
18:48Chutt there's only 10 people trying to use anoncvs right now
18:48Chutt and geckofiend. =)
18:48GeckoFiend ; )
18:48o_cee Chutt: will you commit those tr()'s or should i go to bed?
18:48Chutt o_cee, maybe
18:49Chutt i don't think it's a big deal at this point
18:49Chutt geckofiend, that fix look correct?
18:49o_cee not really, i always use cvs so :)
18:50GeckoFiend gonna check it after dinner... Only concern is making sure they show the correct initial values. I had to do a selectValue call after we built the list for bools.
18:50Chutt cool
18:50Chutt i didn't test the initial values =)
19:04--- ---> nick125 [~nick@nick125.user] has joined #mythtv
19:05GeckoFiend I just checked a couple recoridngs and they had rhe right starting values. so it looks good
19:05Chutt cool.
19:05Chutt ah, left/right arrows on the start early/late thing?
19:05Chutt they seem backwards
19:05Chutt well, one's backwards from the other
19:05Chutt is there a reason for that?
19:07GeckoFiend Left == -, Right == +. If you have a -1 for the start it starts 1 minute later right? Or does it start one minute earlier?
19:08Chutt it's later
19:08Chutt but
19:09o_cee thor_: beep.
19:09Chutt start recording on time
19:09Chutt -> right
19:09Chutt start recording one minute early
19:09Chutt i realize that that's opposite of the values
19:09Chutt but it's opposite of how you'd expect it to work
19:10Chutt err, 'i reailze that that's how the values go'
19:11o_cee GeckoFiend: you see me message to you earlier about titivil? you need to add <buttondef name="TV_SEARCH_LISTINGS"> for classic
19:12GeckoFiend o_cee haven't gotten through all my email and chat backlog yet. LOOOOOONG interview
19:12o_cee just wanted to make sure you saw it :)
19:14GeckoFiend chutt: you want right to equal earlier for the start offset amd right to equal later for the end?
19:17--- <<-- mecraw [~lmarlow@] has quit ("Trillian (")
19:22Chutt nono
19:23Chutt that's how it is right now
19:23Chutt and that's what's backwards :p
19:24Chutt don't you think?
19:25o_cee Chutt: how long should viewcvs take to catch up?
19:25GeckoFiend ok... so right should always be later and left always earlier?
19:30Chutt yeah
19:30Chutt though the actual database values are flipped
19:30Chutt i think, at least
19:32GeckoFiend Chutt ok, I jsut went ahead and made it possible to invert the direction moved for the left/right keys. One last question. If we have a -1 for the endoffset does that stop 1 minute earlier or one minute later?
19:32Chutt heh
19:32Chutt i have no idea
19:33Chutt i think it's earlier
19:33GeckoFiend yeah I just looked at the SQL statment it does a + this number so -1 would be one minute earlier.
19:33Chutt "program.starttime - INTERVAL record.startoffset minute AS recstartts, "
19:33Chutt "program.endtime + INTERVAL record.endoffset minute AS recendts, "
19:34Chutt that's kinda weird
19:34Chutt and it's the reason the two arrow directions were opposite of each other
19:37GeckoFiend I just checked in a fix for it.
19:37Chutt thanks!
19:38GeckoFiend heh after that thread I want to make sure this screen puts it's best face forward.
19:38Chutt i'll go through and make sure all the text fits
19:39Chutt but i've gotta go do dinner and stuff
19:39o_cee damn haven't had time to fix that.. i'd need a bit more room for "Description" there
19:39o_cee Chutt: blue needs an update as well, thor seems away but i sent it to him

22:31rkulagow well, that's sort of vague, and i don't have the chip.
22:32Chutt bah, i'm too lazy to do the release
22:32bline it was change -march=pentiumpro to -march=opteron
22:32thor_ heh

22:53snowblind Captain_Murdoch: you get done laughing at my script yet?
22:54Captain_Murdo| haven't had a chance to look over it yet actually. worked late the past 2 days.
22:55--- <<-- Chutt [] has quit (Read error: 60 (Operation timed out))
22:57Captain_Murdo| why'd you split up the starttime like that?
22:58snowblind off the type?
22:59Captain_Murdo| no, you cut up the year/month/day/etc..
23:00Captain_Murdo| then just put them back together.
23:00Captain_Murdo| just curious, nothing wrong with it.
23:00snowblind ahh left over from other script
23:01Captain_Murdo| do you needed the cutlist in seconds not frames?
23:01Captain_Murdo| s/do/so/
23:01snowblind aye for zoomplayer cutlist yeah
23:02Beirdo snowblind: if that's the same script you sent me, there are easier ways to extract the time info in perl (regexps) but they are a bit tricky to learn :)
23:03Captain_Murdo| I was just meaning it could be just one substr() to get the chanid and a 2nd to get the starttime. that's all that's needed for this script. was just curious, not complaining or nitpicking.
23:03Beirdo from the filename, I mean, BTW
23:03snowblind Beirdo: it worked so i didnt mess with it
23:03Beirdo That's what I figured
23:05Captain_Murdo| might want to put some kind of output in there so the user knows what's going on. I just ran it and it didn't do anything.
23:06snowblind Captain_Murdoch: aye thats part of code i got that helped me with DBI stuff
23:07snowblind aye i need to check to see if a file has been flaged so i done write empty cut files
23:08snowblind done=dont
23:10snowblind gonna fix up the zoomplayer output and add a easyer way for others to add other output formats
23:12snowblind you want mplayer output?
23:12Captain_Murdo| couple problems with it. you have "if (all)" when it should be "if ($all)" then you have "@filename = @ARGV[0]" when it'd probably be better with "@filename = @ARGV"
23:13--- <<-- cmorgan [] has quit (Remote closed the connection)
23:15Captain_Murdo| mplayer format would be nice, but if you don't use it, it's up to you whether you implement it or not. if it's easily extendable, others can add other formats if they want them. I'd probably try to make it so you just have a function that writes out a start/end pair, so you keep track of the last mark and if it was a start and this mark is an end, then you call the proper function to write out the start/end pair.
23:16Captain_Murdo| The @filename = @ARGV lets you specify multiple files on the command line.
23:16snowblind yeah
23:21snowblind im out move the code in the while( $sth->fetch() ) to sub and call a sub based on a cmdline switch in side it for the other types
23:22snowblind heh is that understandable
23:23Captain_Murdo| yeah
23:27snowblind mplayer crashes hard here
23:28snowblind i thinks it compiled worng for my cpu tpye
