19:55cmorgan robertm: why not use 0.17?
19:57robertm It has been crashing when running the schdler since I added in a slave backend. I have been tring to either get a CVS version that doesn't crash or one I can get a backtrace on to get the issue fixed with. I have been following the devel list for 3 Years now nothing gets fixed on a released item.
19:59cmorgan are you using any cflags?
19:59cmorgan is this a build on gentoo?
20:00robertm Stock cvs with only 2 changes. One enabled lirc 2nd removed the flag for release and added one for debug. I was using atrpms for .17
20:01robertm so I am using stock cflags for ppro. I have a amd 2600 so they should be fine.
20:01robertm no. fc3.
20:01cmorgan hmm
20:01robertm Installed gcc, qt-devel, and gcc-g++ from rpms.
20:03robertm I removed all atrpms packages I don't think there are any old library floating around.
20:03cmorgan i think other people have reported this bug
20:03robertm with the schdler or not being able to using the frontend under cvs?
20:05cmorgan well with the sig33 issues
20:05robertm ok
20:05cmorgan thats one odd signal
20:06cmorgan i'm still looking on google to figure out what it means
20:06robertm glad it isn't something simple.
20:08robertm do you need a bt full output?
20:08cmorgan i'm not a mythtv developer
20:08robertm ok
20:08cmorgan i was just trying to see if it was the overzealous use of cflags or something

20:11Captain_Murdo| robertm, did it drop you back to a gdb prompt after that?
20:11robertm yes
20:12Captain_Murdo| type "thread apply all bt full" and paste the results at
20:12robertm ok
20:14robertm posted
20:19Captain_Murdo| did it print a line that says "switching to thread

20:21robertm yes [Switching to Thread -1210168400 (LWP 6520)]
20:24Captain_Murdo| are you running as root?
20:24robertm no. mythtv user. Mythbackend is running is root.
20:25Captain_Murdo| so mythfrontend is not setuid root?
20:25robertm It was before I recomiled I did't reset it suid after the recompile let me check and confirm.
20:27robertm Every other time I have compiled or update it removes that bit but not this time. Removed the SUID bit.
20:28Captain_Murdo| give it another shot then.
20:30robertm same thing. I exited out of gdb. I confimed there were no mythfrontend tasks running and gdb /usr/bin/mythfrontend then run. Getting the same error.
20:30robertm do i need to reboot?
20:31Captain_Murdo| no.
20:32Captain_Murdo| same error in gdb?
20:32robertm yes.
20:32Captain_Murdo| do a "thread apply all bt full" again and see if it looks the same.
20:32robertm ok
20:35robertm posted but it shows 3 thread and look pretty much the same to me althought I am new to gdb. All past debug have been done with printf all over the place
20:45Captain_Murdo| try typing "handle SIG33 nostop" at the gdb prompt then try to run again.
20:46robertm just to confirm. gdb mythfrontend

20:48Captain_Murdo| don't see it in there, but saw it in a commit log via google.
20:49robertm It worked no have mythfrontend seem to have locked up where I was tring to get it to lock up. Do you want to look at that bt full or should I dump it into the devel list?
20:50Captain_Murdo| you can send it to pastebin and I can take a quick look. if I don't see anything then you can post to -dev
20:51robertm ok. Program didn't sig fault just stop responding I do a ctrl-c the get the bt full correct?
20:51Captain_Murdo| yeah, did it draw anything?
20:52robertm I was watching the video. It would jump forward 30 seconds. back 5 seconds. worked fine until I esc out then nothing frontend stops responding.
20:52Captain_Murdo| and this happens on just this frontend or all?
20:54--- ---> Malinon [] has joined #mythtv
20:56davatar where do the videobuffer functions come from? i.e. videobuffer.back() and videobuffer.pop_back()? I'm getting a segfault on delete [] vb-buffer.. sometimes..
20:57Captain_Murdo| huh? :) the video stuff is in libs/libmythtv/ in files that start with the word video.
20:58robertm I wasn't having any problems with frontend displays until I updated to cvs. I have had it happen everytime in cvs. I watch a video anything recorded under .16 or .17 and it seems to work fine until I tring to exit with the esc key then it just sites there the screen stops updating and nothing happens. I have posted the bt to the site.
20:59davatar yeah.. I know.. but videobuffer is declared as vector<struct vidbuffertype *> videobuffer; which I think produces the .back(), etc I am not familar with this
21:00Captain_Murdo| the source is with you. :) use grep. looks like that's defined in format.h
21:00robertm as for other frontends I don't known. The wife based one wasn't upgraded as the protocol hasn't changed and the other one is backend only.
21:00davatar no hit :(
21:01Captain_Murdo| davatar: I just did it, I know it works. :) cd to libs/libmytthv and grep for vidbuffertype in *.h
21:01Captain_Murdo| robertm, which thread did it say it was switching to?
21:01davatar Captain: yeah but it's a struct, no functions..
21:01robertm Program received signal SIGINT, Interrupt.

21:02Captain_Murdo| the functions are for the vector I'd assume
21:02robertm I ctrl-c to get the bt full
21:02Anduin sig 33 is the RT stuff
21:03Anduin when the debugger stop the appropriate action is c
21:03Captain_Murdo| the handle sig32 took care of that I think.
21:04Captain_Murdo| that used to be in the howto a long time ago but isn't in there now.
21:04robertm ok. Captain_Murdoch helped me get passed that. Now I got to the point were I had the know problem.
21:04robertm any luck understanding the back trace.
21:05Captain_Murdo| nothing sticks out to me so far. you should run "mythfrontend -v all" outside of gdb to see if it prints anything useful when it freezes
