03:12<planetmaker>hm... the % U got eaten
03:13<planetmaker>but a destinction between windows and other OS needs to be made somehow.

04:02<planetmaker>some pure white warnings remain
04:03<Ammler>yes, but they should appear in the error log, so it would be more verbose.

04:16<dihedral> <- hehe - what a mean typo in the nick name :-P
04:17<Markk>He's a Swede too o/
04:28<@Rubidium>dihedral: you got a PPC mac, right?
04:29<@Rubidium>do and work for you?
04:29<dihedral>i dont have it here at work though - i can get hold of it again around 18.00 CEST
04:29<dihedral>but i'll give it a shot then
04:31<dihedral>anything specific to look out for? or just running?
04:31<@Rubidium>well, it's to check whether the compile farm can make binaries of those for PPC that work
04:31<dihedral>eh.... great last sentence ^^
04:32<dihedral>i'll do that when i am home
04:40<planetmaker>Rubidium, thanks for all those graphics fixes :-)
04:41<planetmaker>concerning the pcx dependency, I'll have to see how to teach my mac to like it, too
04:41<planetmaker>somehow the sed syntax seems to differ...
04:42<@Rubidium>ghehe ;)

04:59<TrueBrain>what a boring day .. what a boring day ..
05:00<@Rubidium>TrueBrain: you should ask those guy of OpenGFX about boring days ;)
05:01<TrueBrain>guys of OpenGFX: I wamt to ask you about boring days
05:01<@Rubidium>oh, I had a boring evening
05:02<TrueBrain>what did you do this time? :p
05:03<dihedral>TrueBrain, looks like that subconsciousness test of mine did not work
05:03<TrueBrain>you did what now?
05:03<planetmaker> resp. <-- TrueBrain
05:04<TrueBrain>S L O W W W w w w
05:05<dihedral>uh - i did not know Rubidium participated in opengfx :)
05:05<Eddi|zuHause2><planetmaker> hm... the % U got eaten <- try doubling the %
05:05<dihedral>oh yeah - that was a piece of beauty, Sacro
05:07-!-Eddi|zuHause2 is now known as Eddi|zuHause
05:09<TrueBrain>planetmaker: why is the credit list in reversed order?!
05:10<@Rubidium>because Ammler doesn't like to be on top (of that list)
05:10<TrueBrain>and now it looks like Zephyris is more important
05:10<CIA-1>OpenTTD: rubidium * r17050 /trunk/src/newgrf_station.cpp: -Codechange: replace custom implementation of TILE_LOOP with TILE_LOOP.
05:10<TrueBrain>the idea of alphabetical order is to give the impression they are all equal .. reversing it kind of undos that
05:10<Sacro>a thing of beauty is a joy forever
05:12<Ammler>TrueBrain: it is Zephyris' set, the style which some like, some don't
05:14<planetmaker>Mainly Rubidium is right, though ;-)
05:14*planetmaker hides
05:15<dihedral>oh the joys ^^

06:08<Groggy>can you run a game with only AI's?
06:09<TrueBrain>(btw, plural of AI is AIs, not AI's)
06:09<Groggy>yeah you are right
06:10<Groggy>but how do you do it?
06:10<TrueBrain>start a dedicated server and don't join the game, while AIs are active (in multiplayer)
06:10<TrueBrain>and in singleplayer you can do the same
06:10<TrueBrain>just then there is 1 company which is owned by you
06:10<TrueBrain>just don't do anything, and you still have a game with only AI
06:11<Groggy>but won't the singelplayer game end when I don't have any money left?
06:12<TrueBrain>you have a few good years before that happens :)
06:12<TrueBrain>even then the game continues
06:12<Sacro>AI's is vaguely valid
06:13<TrueBrain>np; just try a bit and you will find out yourself what happens :)
06:13<Alberth>Groggy: to prevent ending, set up a simple line that just makes a profit.
06:13<TrueBrain>Alberth: then it no longer is AIs only ;)
06:13<TrueBrain>in SP you can't go bankrupt, so I don't see the problem anyway ;)
06:14<Groggy>I thought I could go bankrupt
06:14<Groggy>then are there no problem
06:14<TrueBrain>you get a popup, you click no, you continue :p
06:14<TrueBrain>or was it yes ..
06:14<TrueBrain>haven't seen that dialog in ages :p
06:14<@Rubidium>TrueBrain: you haven't played in ages, so that's not fair
06:15<TrueBrain>Rubidium: you want to say it is no longer true? :)
06:15<Groggy>I just read and presses the right button
06:15<@Rubidium>TrueBrain: no, I've not played in ages (or rather, I've not gone bankrupt)
06:17<Alberth>we should add a new disaster for such players: "tax scandal: president is forced to resign" :p
06:17<Sacro>"President is spotted getting blowjob - impeached"
06:18<TrueBrain>you should get promoted in that case, Sacro
06:18<TrueBrain>"President still gots it!"
06:18<Alberth>could be a nice side effect when spotted bribing the city :)
06:19<Sacro>TrueBrain: didn't happen for Bill though
06:19<Eddi|zuHause>disturbing image alert!
06:19<TrueBrain>he was married
06:19<@Rubidium>"President spotted on the Apalachian trail"
06:21<Eddi|zuHause>even after all those years, the late night talkshows are still full of bill and hillary jokes
06:21<Eddi|zuHause>especially during the election campaign
06:22<@Rubidium>planetmaker: maybe is useful for the "compile farm" for OGFX; makes the logs more useful
06:24<Eddi|zuHause>is it me or is it very cold today?
06:24<TrueBrain>I love such answers :)
06:24<TrueBrain>completely useless
06:24<Eddi|zuHause>i love it, too
06:25<Eddi|zuHause>i very often answer that way :)
06:25<TrueBrain>we had a foreign person over yesterday
06:25<TrueBrain>and he closed every sentence with: you know?
06:25<TrueBrain>we kept on replying with: no
06:25<TrueBrain>he got annoyed

07:14<Ammler>I thought, there is a reason, those warnings are on stdout.
07:14<TrueBrain>again, having such moment? :p
07:14<Ammler>well, it might be easier to ask, when I don't have such moments :-P
07:15<@Rubidium>when you're 'the late Ammler'?
07:15<Ammler>hmm, truebrain means something else.
07:16<Ammler>(I guess)

07:19<Ammler>I guess, I see, why they aren't piped to stderr

07:20-!-tneo [] has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
07:21-!-tneo [] has joined #openttd
07:21<Alberth>then the pcx name should be part of the warning imho

07:22<TrueBrain>dihedral: fix your VPS! :p
07:22-!-SmatZ [] has joined #openttd
07:23<Ammler>maybe, that is what he does right now :-)
07:24<@Rubidium>Ammler: the pcx was never shown
07:25<@Rubidium>you get the sprite number though
07:25<@Rubidium>and with that you can grep the .nfo and get the file AND the exact location
07:26<Ammler>maybe I should generate just one file and grep it for warnings and errors
07:28<Ammler>the issue is just on opengfx, else you have one grf, only.
07:28<Alberth>until you run a number of conversions in batch
07:28<Ammler>conversions like?
07:29<Alberth>suppose I have several grf sources, and build them all in one run.
07:31<Alberth>(ie I think an error/warning should give you enough indication to find the point of the error in the orginal source without further trickery with files, grep, etc)
07:32<Ammler>yeah, that might be the reason, grfcodec trunk doesn't pipe it to stderr
07:34<Alberth>BAD grfcodec. However, programs originating from DOS tend to do that. Such programs also tend to output useless copyright and progress text :p
07:35<Alberth>(so the errors are nicely hidden in all the other output)
07:36<Alberth>(and using the program in a pipe is not possible :( )
07:37<@Rubidium>anyhow... you can 'easily' get the filename of the pcx, but the information about the location within the pcx seems already lost at that place
07:38<Ammler>well, you need to check the nfo anyway
07:39-!-Cybertinus [] has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
07:40<Ammler>so it would suffice if you know at least the nfo and maybe the pcx.

10:58<adam_vollrath>Good morning.
10:59<adam_vollrath>I'd like to do some simple development: Create a new list of town names. How much work would this be to set up?
10:59<TrueBrain>depends on your C++ skills, I say
11:00<Eddi|zuHause>town name generators are done via newgrf
11:00<TrueBrain>they are?
11:00<Eddi|zuHause>there are examples for that out there
11:00<Eddi|zuHause>yes, they are
11:00<adam_vollrath>I haven't yet found an example.
11:00-!-Exl [] has joined #openttd
11:00<TrueBrain>Eddi|zuHause: then what does namegen.cpp do?
11:01<Eddi|zuHause>TrueBrain: old stuff
11:01<DaleStan>adam_vollrath: Google for 'ustowns' or 'ustownset', I think.
11:01<Alberth>town directory window should contain an example
11:01<Eddi|zuHause>TrueBrain: the problem with cpp name generators is that you cannot replace them
11:01-!-Pygma [~quassel@] has joined #openttd
11:01<TrueBrain>Eddi|zuHause: I am not complaining, just wondering when someone would convert them to grfs
11:01<DaleStan>So, actually, that doesn't work. Nevermind.
11:02<adam_vollrath>Where would I look to get started with NewGRF development in general?
11:02<adam_vollrath>And if anyone can point me to an example source for a town name NewGRF, that'd be v helpful.
11:03<Ammler>adam_vollrath: glx dev space
11:03<Eddi|zuHause>afair there was the conversion of the french town names as example... not sure
11:03<+glx>conversion of openttd generators into newgrf
11:03<DaleStan>Also, (decode the GRF.)
11:04<Ammler>french town names does use real names
11:04<Ammler>just randomize a big list
11:04<Eddi|zuHause>using a list of real names is probably the easiest
11:04<+glx>TrueBrain: all can be converted (except english I think)
11:05<TrueBrain>glx: why isn't it done yet then? :)
11:05<TrueBrain>(just wondering, really)
11:05<+glx>I did 2 of them
11:06<Eddi|zuHause>didn't english have some exceptions for "unsuitable" names?
11:06<Ammler>it would generate new support tickets, where is my town name generator gone? ;-)
11:06<adam_vollrath>Hrm. Are there any NewGRF developers willing to help me replace the town names for a modest PayPal donation?
11:06<TrueBrain>lol, I think he used too many times the Bribe button :)
11:07<Ammler>adam_vollrath: collect everything you have, make a nice tt-forums post and ask there for help.
11:08<Ammler>if the list/design is ready, I am sure, you will find some help.
11:09<adam_vollrath>Can I just replace the strings in this file?
11:09<adam_vollrath>^ or do I need to alter the byte offsets there too?
11:09<+glx>read the specs
11:09<adam_vollrath>Yeah I can't find the specs.
11:10<+glx>action 0F
11:13<adam_vollrath>wow this does not look simple.
11:13<Eddi|zuHause>it needs a little reading into...
11:15<adam_vollrath>Do I need to edit all that hex by hand or are there tools to help with this?

15:44<Xaroth>Lost keys has a nice annoying tone during the ENTIRE song that pisses off most people :P
15:45<Aali>TrueBrain: I did, but again, I seem to have missed the point where it turns into an obscurity contest
15:45<TrueBrain>Aali: happens :)
15:45<TrueBrain>I guess it has to do that I know Rubidium slightly longer ;)
15:45<LadyHawk>TrueBrain, which 'group' is Ammler in and what are the requirements to get in?

15:58<TrueBrain>I am bored

16:02<TrueBrain>but yeah, I would say, it is about 50 / 50 now :p
16:02<TrueBrain>yeah, I also doubt about that word
16:02<TrueBrain>why not: 'locatie van vliegtuig'
16:02<TrueBrain>or 'de locatie van het vlieguig'
16:02<TrueBrain>for all I care .. to make it both AB(N) Dutch and readable :p
16:02<LadyHawk>even 'vliegtuig locatie' would do, to keep it short

16:02<Alberth>LadyHawk: 'vliegtuiglokatie'
16:02<TrueBrain>Yexo: so for once, I am going to make a change to WT3 language :p
16:03<LadyHawk>that's 2 words
16:03<TrueBrain>lokatie over locatie .. hehe ;)
16:03<LadyHawk>ah sorry if my spelling's a bit off, been living in england for 5+ years
16:03<Alberth>LadyHawk: no, one word, Dutch doesn't insert spaces
16:03<TrueBrain>Alberth: is that really a word?
16:03<LadyHawk>'vliegtuiglocatie' isn't a word

16:05<LadyHawk>so i was right
16:05<LadyHawk>does 'vliegtuiglocatie' translate as a word?
16:05<Yexo>no, it's not a word
16:05<TrueBrain>Yexo: can you look at STR_TOWN_VIEW_CENTER_TOOLTIP for me?
16:05<TrueBrain>('stad', 'plaats' stuff)
16:06<TrueBrain>'van de plaats' sounds weird, so I made it 'stad', but I am not sure that is consistent :p
16:06<LadyHawk>which tooltip is that?
16:06<Yexo>it's fine :)
16:06<Yexo>I still need to go over all plaats/dorp/stad strings to make them consistent

16:10<TrueBrain>auto garage?
16:10<LadyHawk>that might be a bit clearer yeah
16:11<Yexo>for busses / trucks?
16:11<TrueBrain>shall we translate all 'depot' to 'garage', or is that too much?
16:11<Yexo>the "auto" part doesn't sound right to me

16:11<LadyHawk>train depot wouldn't be a 'garage'
16:12<Yexo>for planes it's just hangar
16:12<Yexo>for ships maybe "dok"?
16:12<TrueBrain>dok, I like
16:18<TrueBrain>that only leaves 'treindepot'
16:18<LadyHawk>i can't remember what they're called
16:19<LadyHawk>that's 2 words though
16:21<TrueBrain>STR_DEPOT_ROAD_VEHICLE_CAPTION has "Bouw" in dutch .. while I don't see anything in the english which suggests that :s
16:21<Yexo>rangeerstation ? Not really correct, but it might do

16:23<TrueBrain>so Dok it is
16:23<Yexo>yes, but the dock in openttd is mainly for building ships
16:23<Eddi|zuHause>but "Straßenbahndepot" is very valid in german
16:24<Eddi|zuHause>"Dock" is more like the ship-station, the ship-depot should be a "Werft"
