07:28<Timberwolf>Eddi|zuHause: That almost feels like an "intended for 2MB machines and overshot", it's so close.
07:29<Eddi|zuHause>i don't have any insight in that...
07:30<Timberwolf>I don't know how late in the development process Chris Sawyer went to 640x480, it may have originally been intended as 386/2MB/VGA - but as you say, no insight without getting the famously reclusive author to talk to us :)
07:33<Timberwolf>Original Carmageddon was bad for this sort of thing - it ran on an 8MB computer up until the point at which it tried to play an animated UI element larger than a certain size after you'd already finished at least one race, at which point it would crash to DOS with a failure to allocate memory.

07:50<Eddi|zuHause>as i only ever used "old" computers, my cpu could only really handle an empty map, each train you added would cause a significant slowdown, and a full map (which was like 60 trains or so) would come to a crawl

09:45<TrueBrain>so maybe we just don't sign 1.11, and see in 3 months or so?

10:00<TrueBrain>the 1.11 release is still 2 months away, so there is that :)

10:05<@orudge>Think it was greylisting on the mail server causing some delays; I added the Value IPs to the whitelist
10:05<@orudge>also, regarding phone number, for £1/month I can get a VoIP number that can just go to a mailbox or temporarily forward to my mobile; so we can work around that easily enough at low expense
10:05<@orudge>(I suspect Valve may want a phone number too)
10:05<TrueBrain>you might want to amend your commit (no changes, just amend), and push it again orudge .. no clue what the CI went doing ..
10:05<@orudge>(in fact, I think they do)
10:06<TrueBrain>yeah, so go for it

10:30<@orudge>TrueBrain: got a phone number now, and registered it in an "online business directory"...
10:30<TrueBrain>smart :D
10:39<Samu>I don't know, you scare me
10:39<Samu>maybe I won't redo it
10:48<Samu>will wait for what glx comes up with first
10:54<+glx>I'm not planning to touch that
11:00<Samu>did you see that PR? i use a bitmask of companies to start
11:00<Samu>allow more than 1 company to start with a single command
11:01<Samu>reload ai does work in multiplayer if i set a max no competitors to 1 for example, it won't ever start 2
11:04<Samu>and the main issue, which was starting more than requested AIs if they had a start-date of 0, is also dealt with.
11:06<Samu>I feel like I should re-do it :(

13:20<Samu>sometimes the queue switches the order of execution? not sure if that's what's happening
13:20<Samu>have to test this better
13:27<Samu>ah no
13:27<Samu>it's a new command that gets interlaced with another in the queue

13:29<+glx>that's what I told you yesterday
13:32<Samu>yes, i'm checking that in detail, what's happening
13:32<+glx>it's just because reload is 2 commands, and there's a small frame between both
13:34<Samu>this is what is happening in order. command bankrupt is tested, then sent to queue, command startai is tested, then sent to queue
13:35<Samu>then network execute bankrupt test, then exec
13:35<+glx>and start command doesn't check the limit
13:36<Samu>now for some reason the queue is delayed, and gameloop sends a command to create new ai, which is first tested, then sent to queue
13:37<Samu>next, network execute start ai, the one meant for reload, then exec

15:23<Samu>all of the whole p1 is being read, but only the first 16 bits matter
15:23<Samu>0 in this place means CCA_NEW
15:24<+glx>yes it's for a player creating a company
15:26<Samu>cp.p1 == 0 should be replaced with (CompanyCtrlAction)GB(cp.p1, 0, 16) == CCA_NEW
15:26<+glx>for CCA_NEW other bits must be 0

15:55<+glx>or just disable IPO detection
15:56<_dp_>yeah, that's it
15:56<_dp_>would be nice to have a config option though
15:56<+glx>PRs are welcome :)
15:57<_dp_>I've no idea how to do anything cmake :/
15:59<Eddi|zuHause>why would you care about link time anyway?
15:59<Eddi|zuHause>what you invest in link time you save in run time
16:00<_dp_>it takes most of compilation time which gets pretty annoying considering I don't need it for debugging
16:00<_dp_>and debug build is too slow most of the time

16:15<Samu>https://github.com/OpenTTD/OpenTTD/pull/8587#discussion_r560402006 restrictive imo
16:17<Samu>if there is another company i can be in, and i'm in an AI company, i don't expect the button to be disabled

16:22<+glx>the only way to be in AI company is the cheat menu
16:23<Samu>there is a way to be in a ai company in a server, but the steps are more involving
16:26<Samu>start a server, move to spectator, reset company 1, startai, save game, load game back, now you're in the AI company
16:28<+glx>looks like a bug :)
16:31<Samu>only the server can be there
16:31<Samu>non dedicated server
