09:05<supermop_Home>trolleybi was supposed to be a proposal for adding electric RVs to OGFX+ RVs, but it went nowhere so i eventually just made it a whole RV set and moved away from the ogfx style

09:15<supermop_Home>like various clamped palette rendered sprites dumped in from the old 32bpp base set effort
09:16<supermop_Home>which had no unified style, just many various people making a few assorted buildings in different styles, and rendering them with different workflows
09:17<supermop_Home>tropic suffered the worst from this i feel, which is part of why I've long wanted to make a partial replacement static grf

09:18<supermop_Home>i just have to replace the tall garish CC colored arctic office tower that gets reused in tropic, and i'll have all of the clamped rendered sprites replaced!
09:18<_dp_>bad initial sprites wouldn't have been such a problem if improvement didn't stop there
09:20<supermop_Home>_dp_ one issue is that anyone motivated enough to draw a bunch of sprites in a unified style has generally preferred to just make their own house set rather than try to match the ogfx style and be limited by the housetypes in the base set
09:20<_dp_>imo opengfx temperate is more or less fine but everything else is kinda meh

09:22<supermop_Home>you'd think base sprite replacement would be easier, but its frustratingly limiting to try to squeeze houses into the very few base tropic types

09:28<+glx>IIRC there's a tile border issue with some tunnel entrances (a missing pixel causing a hole) but it's a pain to check the sprites :)
